I've created several areas on my property the past several years that could be considered "rooms."

Photo: I call this one my sitting garden.

I guess this one would be the "gazebo room."

The "campfire room" is set in a grove of white pine trees. It's enclosed by a circle of split-rail fence and features a thick carpet of white pine needles and a fire ring. This is my Photo-shopped version.

John - Oh my! How lovely each of your rooms are! I am particularly fond of your sitting garden in the very first photo! But each "room" is just amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Is the last photo of the Campfire room, one that you are working on or is it already created?

Thanks for the kind comments. I consider the 'campfire room" pretty much finished. It's on the edge of my woods and the area behind the fence fills with May Apples in spring followed by ferns in summer. The thick canopy of pine branches overhead block the sky and the view back down into the yard. It feels like an enclosed private space. I need to take some summer photos of the spot.

Photo: Looking east past the gazebo and the apple orchard. The campfire room is located behind the apple trees and fence in the upper middle of the photo.

Your landscape is just beautiful and all the different "rooms" really add to the fun of walking and discovering what is behind and around each section of your property! Thanks for sharing such great ideas and your lovely garden beds. I look forward to seeing your Spring/Summer photos and any new areas you create. Smiling

Becky, Steve...........thanks! My father-in-law gave me that big kettle a couple of years ago. He's pushing 80 years old and the kettle came from the farm he grew up on. they used it to scald hogs for butchering.

John - Your flower beds are marvelous! Really stunning blooms and combos! I love your wooden fencing! I just love everything about your yard in truth! :-)

I wish I had better luck growing plants in the ground here. I'm gonna try improving my beds this year in hopes of getting some shrubs and larger plants to grow. Maybe if I can create some low shady areas, then I can get annuals and smaller perennials to grow under them! ;-)

Nice documentary photos of that wonderful sitting garden. LOVE it!!! Thanks for sharing all your lovely photos and information as to how you created and built it. :-)

Do you grow the same plants in that area year after year or do you change them?

John your Gazebo inspired me years ago and I have been working on and adding to mine over the last few years. We started with the Gazebo and a couple of small flower beds at the front corners. Then added the brick floor the year after. Last year we started to expand on the floor and add larger corner planters but had to stop due to a hand injury. We are looking forward to getting back on track this spring.
Here is a picture from the first year.
