I wanted to share photos of my gesneriad Titanotrichum oldhamii which I am growing indoors in a somewhat sunny window at my office at work. It is a unique gesneriad, I think, in that it needs to be in constant moisture to be happy. I love the bright yellow flowers.

Thanks, Dave. I love this one to pieces, figuratively speaking. I got it from Plant Delights Nursery.

I need to figure out how to propagate it so I have an extra one should this one fail on me.

Joseph: Wow, that is an absolutely stunning bloom! Love it! Titanotrichum is a new one to me; I've never heard of that plant before, but then again there are lots of Gesneriads I'm sure I've never heard of. Thumbs up

I sent a proposal to move your first bloom image to the database; hope you will consider adding others of the entire plant, leaves, stem etc.

WOW Joseph, that is simply stunning. Does it have any fragrance? With that beauty it doesn't need any but i was just curious. Big Grin

I found a photo of plant/foliage at the Gesneriads website: http://www.gesneriads.ca/titan...

and flowers: http://www.gesneriads.ca/titan...

Wow, it must be pretty hardy; according to this: http://dcgesneriads.blogspot.c... it's hardy in Washington D.C.

Plant Delights Nursery is where I got my plant. The soil must remain moist at all times, and not left to dry out or you'll lose the plant.

I'll try to get photos of the foliage and upload soon.

When I was googling I saw it for sale at the PlantDelights website! I don't grow much in the way of Gesneriads anymore but from the little I read that one sounds like a fairly easy plant as long as the soil is kept moist. It would be a pretty specimen for a large terrarium. Look forward to more of your photo's!

My flower stems rise up above the pot about 3 feet, it might not fit in a terrarium.

Oh my, I didn't realize they grew that tall! Well, it's probably not one for me; I figured if I put it in a terrarium it would stay moist enough, I'm pretty bad about keeping plants watered enough. Sad I'll just have to gaze at your lovely photo's on occasion! Smiling

The foliage is not very fuzzy, somewhat smooth I'd say.

The plant inflorescence is tall but the base part of the plant would fit in an aquarium.

Here are more flower photos to ogle. Ths latest flush of flowers is the nicest presentation of blossoms yet.

Cinda: I saw somewhere where it was referred to as Chinese Foxglove but everything I find when googling Chinese Foxglove I get Rehmannia elata:

Chinese Foxglove (Rehmannia elata) with pink blooms, and although the bloom shape looks somewhat similar I don't think it's a gesneriad.
