Or whatever they're called.... I was looking at a plant in the db and under "add this to your list" is now one of those black/white displays you can swipe with your phone -- cool! Thumbs up

You can copy and paste that qr code into a document or even print it out. Then when it is scanned, it will take you directly to that plant's entry in the database. If you have a smart phone, try scanning it and see what happens!!

I didn't think I'd seen it earlier today... I *have* a smart phone, but don't use it for much besides reading work email (work phone, not personal). If I had a smart phone of my own, I'd be all over that. Thumbs up

This would be great for members who sell or trade plants. They could print it out and provide with the plant. Then the recipient (who may not be a member) could scan it and be directed to our database to learn more about the plant.

Absolutely. That's what I'm going to do at next spring's master gardener plant sale. Then our customers can stand right at our table, scan the flier sheet's code and get detailed info on the plants we're selling, all without leaving the table. We are living in the future! Smiling

Well...some of you are living in the future...I ditched my 'smarter-than-me' phone for a basic flip phone, which I only rarely use (I think I had 50 minutes last month). Gave the smart phone to my granddaughter. Everyone is happy.

"Minutes"? You use the phone to talk?! Rolling on the floor laughing I think we had 50 minutes between the three phones on our phone plan last month but like 5000 minutes on our data usage. I think next round I am going for the Galaxy (Android) Note, It's bigger than a phone but smaller than a tablet. I use my phone as a tablet anyway and my vision isn't getting any better. I'm trying to keep up with the Future but my mind and my eye are fighting me.

I'm debating pre-retirement technology. When we retire in the next year or so, we plan to travel in our camper or perhaps upgrade to a trailer. We'll obviously need a mobile phone and I think a flip is fine. I'm leaning toward a tablet of some type for internet access and as a reader. But, I think it makes the most sense to just wait and see what advances happen in the next while. Everything seems to become obsolete in 6 months - perhaps when we make the move they will all be rolled into one device. ??

I can't keep up with the advances. They move on really fast. 2 years is an old device. A tablet that is a reader. It's an IPad or any Andriod Tablet with enough memory can support a Kindle app. btw, they also are a phone, camera, digital photo album, music player, video player, bar code scanner, and some you can print from , etc. I just figure out what I like in an item. I get those features (if they are still around) and let them add some new stuff to learn from. ---- I heard the IPhone6 will be the size of the Android Galaxys3. Seems phones are getting bigger or vision is getting worse? I think the GalaxyNote3 will make a great Reader though it is smaller than a tablet/larger than the average phone.
