'Missouri Rose' is a much darker and more vibrant red-purple out here in Oregon. Cynda and Lynn were here a couple weeks ago and they both thought 'Missouri Rose' was beautiful. In MA it colored up early and stayed colorful but here it develops color at around the end of May and intensifies all summer.

I'm not sure of its parentage but think it was from 'Sanford Hybrid' as Pat used that a lot. the name was supposed to be 'Wine and Roses" but Helen didn't want to sell anything with WINE in the name!

All of my red and purple heufelliis have great color (you should try these Bev if you want good summer color) and my new hybrid 'Borscht' is a huge beet root red-purple. As Lynn says "Everyone at the clinic wanted that one, Kevin." It was red even as a tiny seedling.

I am rather pleased that my Bronco is a pretty banded purple right now. From Chris in May. I remark on the time because the ones I got in April are not doing as well as these.

Wow wee, great photos Janice.
And Marilyn that bowl of semps is beautiful. Looks like May is the magic planting time for you. Bronco has wonderful purple tips. Love that one.

I've seen Kevin's Missouri Rose, what an outstanding semp it is. The color really stands out.
Kevin has some really amazing new introductions coming up. Lovely color this time of year, spring and soon to see what they do in fall and winter. S. 'Borscht' is so eye catching. I will be buying that one as soon as it comes on the market. Hurray!
Here are the ones that are showing different shades of purple right now. Sorry my camera is not picking up the true color. : (

In addition to those already mentioned: 'Elvis' is a brilliant shade of red. Really quite different and one I'll be using in breeding when it grows up a bit and produces flowers. 'Purple Dazzler' has changed colors a good bit but is starting to have a dark purple base appear. 'Dark Cloud', 'Plumb Rose', 'Viking', 'Eomer', and 'Jungle Shadows' are paler but still have good color. Ditto the plants I'm naming for 'Polly Bishop' and 'Helen Payne' that are 'Jungle Shadows' seedlings.

I think we have a special price on 'Borscht' just for you. $150! Just kidding Lynn! I think she might actually be considering it even at that price. One of the siblings is looking very good too. It is a bit smaller and a more purple shade than 'Borscht' but also with strong watermarks that are very cool. Both of these have great color year round. The increase that are coming on 'Borscht' are really intensely colored. Thank you 'Killer' for giving such wonderful seedlings.

Some of the heufelliis have great color retention. one of my seedlings is like a more extreme version of 'Vesta' and it has stayed red-purple with a sliver of green at the tips all summer. Seems to be a vigorous increaser too.

Kevin
