The "Sold Out" notices are gone and new roses have been added.

http://palatineroses.com/searc...

Unfortunately, most of the roses I had wanted to order this year have been removed from the assortment. I had wanted to replace my own-root Flaming Peace, Las Vegas, Lynette, Monica, and Out of Africa with grafted roses from Palatine, but they aren't being offered this year.

I had also wanted Blush Veranda and Cream Veranda because my Pompon Veranda is such a reliable bloomer. Same story. Oh, well. There's always next year.

Well, small list this year. Probable the following:

Red Intuition (mine croaked) http://palatineroses.com/rose/...
Parfum de Grasse http://palatineroses.com/rose/...
Perfect Moment http://palatineroses.com/rose/...
Grimm's Brother Fairy Tales http://palatineroses.com/rose/...

I have a credit for a Blue Bayou, but they don't have that one listed. Just really didn't see a lot that grabbed me this year.

I expected to see some new Kordes roses, especially this one:

I guess they aren't the Kordes dealer on this continent anymore.

Anyone order yet? I can't get their website to open correctly.
I have a long wish list, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seems cruel to send a lovely vigorous rose to Kansas where RRD is rampant.
But oh...they sure have some good ones listed. I promise...I will get around to posting some pics of the beauties I bought last year.
My crazy Fairy Tale rose (forget which one!) is now 6' tall! I thought it was supposed to be a smaller one, so I planted it in front of shorter plants. Oops!

I'm not buying any from Palatine this year. I think it's the first time since 2006, when they first started taking orders for shipping to the United States. They don't have any of the new Kordes roses and they're not carrying the older roses I had wanted to buy this year. They had them last year and maybe they'll have them again next year. I hope so. I really would like to replace some of my own-root roses with grafted ones, but this turned out to be the wrong year for it.

Zuzu - I thought I was the only one not to order. I just really didn't feel that ordering those few were worth it.

'Kordes Jubilee' is not listed on the Newflora site either, but I don't know if that site has been updated yet.

Kordes has been moving in to fill the void left by J & P and Weeks. Newflora is their official distributor in the US and the site lists the nurseries that have been licensed to carry their roses. They have been active in several test gardens and may not have completed their testing of the some of the new introductions in the US.

http://newflora.net/

They have someone on staff to notify HMF of new introductions to the US that will be in distribution for the coming season. So, far, HMF has not received any information about new introductions. If I see something come through, I'll give you all a heads-up.

Lyn

For some reason, that link made my antivirus software spring to action and advise me not to go there, so I backed off.

I'm glad to hear that Kordes will have a distributor. I hope some of the licensed nurseries will offer mail order.

Zuzu...

Maybe if you go to their website through HMF, you won't have the anti-virus issue. Just click on NURSERIES and enter "newflora" in the SEARCH field. It will take you the the nursery page on HMF and then you can click the button to visit their website. That's the way I've always done it, so I didn't expect that there might be a problem.

The site does list the licensed nurseries, many of which you may have used in the past.

Smiles,
Lyn

I didn't get any warnings with Newflora.net. Take a look at BlueJiris.com and tell me if you get all kinds of warnings there. I get repeated warnings on my laptop but not on other computers. The laptop uses Kaspersky.
Palatine's website was updating as I was watching, so that's why I had the initial issue.
Ordered (12 items):

1 "Let's Celebrate"
$19.95 USD each
1 "Anne Henderson"
$19.95 USD each
1 "Magenta"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Monte Carlo Country Club"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Lady X"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Red Intuition"
$20.25 USD each
1 "Pomponella Fairy Tale"
$19.95 USD each
1 "Antike 89"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Blairii No. 2"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Postilion"
$18.95 USD each
1 "Poseidon"
$19.95 USD each
1 "Apricot Nectar"
$18.95 USD each

I bought the Apricot Nectar because my mom has had that one for years and it looks virused. I thought it was time to get a healthy one.
Poseidon and Magenta are Toni's fault.
Monte Carlo Country Club is Zuzu's fault.
Sue takes the blame (or credit?) for Anne Henderson.
Red Intuition is because the first 2 I bought aren't doing well and I'm feeling a challenge......or don't know when to quit, I don't know.
Postilion looks like an improved version of Sunny Knock Out and will go in that same bed.
Let's Celebrate looks unique, and the Fryer roses I have do well here.
The Fairy Tale roses do so well that eventually I'll have all of them. Don't know why I didn't get Red Riding Hood...that would complete the collection.
I'm probably throwing my money away on Lady X. Older lavender HT's have suffered in my hands. This one will need special care and siting.
I fell in love with it at a show, and the fragrance and lack of thorns is a plus.
For years, I've wanted Madame Hardy and Madame Plantier, but once again I left them off. I do have a space available next to a white lilac. Hmm.

Cindi - Only problem with Madame Hardy & Madame Plantier is that they're once bloomers... and if you put them w/a lilac, you've got a hell of a show for 2 weeks, then boredom for the rest of the year.

Only time I've seen Lady X it didn't have a scent. And promptly croaked on me. LOLLL..

Poseidon is a definite favorite of mine. Magenta is also a VERY good rose. And I'm glad that you're having problems with Red Intuition. Mine died 100% to the ground & I never saw anything this spring.. I don't even know 100% exactly where it's planted. I actually lost a couple of Palatine's this year. Garden Delight & Charles de Gaulle both croaked... Tatton, Moody Blue, those two are barely hanging on. And, to be perfectly honest, I have NO idea where half of my others are at! They didn't bloom this year, so I don't know. I really need to wander around & find them... but it's been so darned hot and mosquito-filled, that's why I've been so reluctant to go outside for the past month! Hate being eaten alive!!

Toni, Thanks. good timing, because I'm going to call them to order Red Riding Hood, and I was trying to decide whether to go with Mme Hardy or Mme Plantier. Wonder if I should cancel the Red Intuition and give up on that one? One of mine died completely, and the other is down to one cane, but that one cane has produced quite a few blooms this summer.
I lost Charles de Mills, along with several others, but I will take 99% of the blame on that. I'll say what I say every year: yeah...but Next Year will be Different! Rolling my eyes. Really it will. I'm putting in soaker lines and sprinklers. And we're almost finished with the remodeling! Haha I looked back at the Palatine 2012 thread and re-read what I wrote about renovation last year. We're still chugging away at it. I'm tiling now, so we're on the final lap indoors. Next we start the pergolas and deck outside. That will be much easier. Then....I get to plant roses and grapevines all across the back of the house! Crossing my fingers....

Cindi - lolll.. you want my CdM? He's the thorniest rose I've ever seen. I swear, his thorns have thorns. I need to move him from where he's at right now.. I'd be happy to ship him off to you if you want, though.. just be prepared for thorns & prickers and more prickers and then more thorns!! But his blooms.. *swoon!!*

My Red Intuition was just never a strong rose. Never. It was the smallest of all the roses I got from Palatine, bloomed twice, and that was it. Only gave me 2 canes. This year, I'm gonna take the blame as it's just been so damned hot I didn't really want to do anything outside.. plus having problems at home, emotional problems.. blahblahblah. You know how it goes.

Maybe I just won't order any roses from anyone this year. I do have a list w/Heirloom I'd like to get, but still sitting on the fence there. Need to find the roses I got from them & see how they did this summer.

I am glad that Kordes may be more available soon in the US. Chamblees is listing more of them including some of the fairy tale varieties. Many Kordes roses are prettier and just as hardy as the ubiquitous knock outs.

No new plants until I get the ones I moved into the ground!

Toni, hang in there! Group hug Group hug
Red Intuition was also the smallest I received, but I was blaming our weather and my poor care.
Andi, i took a look at Chamblee's site, and the best ones aren't available until spring, but they will let you order now for spring! It's just that the ones I get from Palatine are so much bigger that they have a better chance of survival here. It helps that Chamblee ships them potted and growing, but i can ship 18 big bare root roses from Canada cheaper than 5 1-gallon pots from Texas. Go figure!

I know what you mean, Cindi. For me, the shipping costs for 4 roses from Roses Unlimited are higher than for 19 roses from Palatine.
