We have had yellow, orange, pink, purple. Have we had spiders/UFO/crispates or doubles?

Reds

This one was started to encourage and welcome Trudy (Peachlily) whose favorite color was, well, peach. We recently found out that Trudy died in May and maybe we can bump that thread?

I think we should start a thread for daylily BEDS. whole bed shots, the layout and many rows you have and how often do you have a path placed and so forth. I love these cut cement blocks because you can create such curvy shapes with them.

on an off topic note, the weather here is SO cold. SO very. I am sitting at my computer ON a heat pad lol

Well actuall this pic was taken in May, so not many dl in there yet. But there are plenty of dl planted in this bed.

Another bed on the other side of the yard. This is the place I sold a couple years ago. Sad

This is a path I put in. There is a double layer of roofing shingles under the stones.

Pic of a new bed I put in with a pond, a year or so before we moved and sold. I dug this pond myself and we didn't even get the power hooked up to it, and moved Sad

Lovely. Smiling Good idea about the roof shingles.

My beds are mostly free form and just evolved on the spur of the moment, or as an offshoot of something else. Used found bricks, pavers, and chalk rock.

oh, wow! like most of your front yard! Have you had any opposition from complaining neighbors or city?
Looks like you have a huge tree out there, doesn't it suck the life out of your plants?

No complaints. Not in a HOA--never,ever,not NEVER--so the only code I have to watch for is the city ordinance about high grass or putting bulky trash out too early. Sold an old (broken) fire hydrant this past summer that had been left in the back when I moved in and my city council rep was the guy the buyer called to help load it. He was looking all around, but I was pretty sure it was in admiration, not condemnation. Big Grin In Spring and Summer, people driving by will stop to comment if I am outside and the walkers frequently stop to look around whether I am out front or not, all of which is very rewarding. If I can't have the soft, silky, walk-in-it-barefoot lawn that I remember from up north, I'm digging out 90% of the yard.

Cedar Elm tree, part of why I wanted this house. Doesn't seem to affect anything except what is growing around the first five or six feet from the base, and that is just water.

Did a Garden Tour last year at Trish's request, you can see some of the progression from the time I bought the house.

Great idea for a new thread! I changed the thread name so maybe others will see it and join in?
Back in 2002 I sold all but one of my horses and turned the front pasture into a display garden. The garden has been an AHS Display Garden since 2004, one of only two in Vermont.

Seedling beds are on the back side of the house. Not quite as well landscaped ...

Debra, your yard is WONDERFUL! I looked through the tour and it was lovely!

Char, do you mow in the paths between the beds with a push mower? I always mulched in between my beds to keep the mower from blowing weeds into them. Of course yards with REAL grass don't have to worry about that lol I seen someone on craigs list a while back selling a reel mower... wonder if those actually work or if they are hard to use?

They are easy to use if the blades are sharp and the grass is already kind of short. I bought one because this yard is soooo small, thought I could maintain it myself. This was before I started digging it up. Was okay if I got out there in time. Once it reaches a certain height, though, about all you are doing is pushing it down

Such a great idea to put the shingles under the stones. Thumbs up

Enjoying the garden images, makes me think of warmer days Smiling Admiring the stone work and water features....some day maybe I'll do a water feature other than my big pot w/solar fountain.
Frilly, we have a regular walk behind mower with a bagger attachment for the display garden. The bag collects the clippings and they are added to the compost pile. There is no mowing allowed without the bagger.....DH found out in a hurry that blowing clippings all over the beds and plants was a no-no Whistling
