I got a really nice 36pg color catalog from them and they had a couple that may be going on my wish list for someday when I win the lottery I don't buy tickets for lol
They have some nice things but a couple I was interested in I am having trouble finding much info on. Dream Souffle and Liberty Grand Lady are two of them. They also have Lolabelle, does anyone have that one? Someone on DG suggested that this business labels registered dl with their own names and sells them as something else. I can't find a dl registered with the name Dream Souffle. Liberty Grand Lady comes up though. here's a link to their website

I know nothing about this company, but when you read the "about us" on their site, it is a little strange sounding to me. They say they bought the company 25 years ago, but they only talk about what the former owner has accomplished in his daylily breeding.
Then strangely they move on to talk about what the previous owner accomplished with Lantana breeding.
Then they talk about the American Daylily Selection Council (AADSC) and their testing program, but I never see anything they themselves have done.
Based on nothing but this and that statement about labeling registered Daylilies and selling them as something else and the fact that you can't find the registration of the names given, would at least make be very cautious.

does not look like somewhere i would buy from. just my 2 cents.

I did by daylilies from this company about 10 years ago. The plants were healthy average size fans and all were true to name. I believe the problem you are having is because some of the ones you posted are TM(trademarks).I bought Addie Branch Smith and Buffy's Doll. I would recommend doing your research before ordering daylilies from any big wholesaler and only ordering registered varieties. Hope this helps.

Fred, I don't hybridize, so I'm not sure if it even really matters that much to me as far as knowing that the name may be wrong or that it isn't registered. I just find it strange that someone wouldn't register a dl. I know it costs $ to register one, but I don't think it's that much and for a company with a website, catalog ect like they offer- I don't think they are hurting for $ exactly. The only reasons I could see for a company like this to not register a dl would be #1-it's really someone else's dl and they stole it by putting their own name on it, (which why I still don't know because most dl are not patented or whatever and everyone sells/trades them freely anyway, so what is the gain there? Maybe they can take an inexpensive dl, make people think its a new or different variety and jack up the price on it? or #2 it is a patented dl and they want to sell it without rights, but why? there are quite literally hundreds of other pretty ones out there, why mess with a scheme like this? I guess to me the whole thing just does not make sense. I did find Liberty Grand Lady on other websites and it is registered, so may one day order it from somewhere legitimate. The Dream Souffle is terribly pretty, but not registered. I wonder if it is registered as something else, but I guess there is no way of knowing. It just seems like alot of scheming effort to keep together a marketing and business --but for what gain?

Not sure why they are doing it specifically. With that being said I can think of a reason one might do this, not saying it's their reason.

Example : If I want to sell pink double daylilies for instance I might use a non-registered name so that if I ran out I could just send any old pink double daylily, since it is not a Registered internationally recognized name. The idea being that once you claim to be selling Dublin Elaine(as an example) you are expected to be only selling dublin elaine as dublin elaine. Truness to name could be challenged since it is a registered daylily, registered with the group responsible for international naming. Do you see how this practice might make a certain sense, for someone perhaps in the business of business and not named daylilies. It would be shady at best to do so, but possible to dupe the unsuspecting public, who may or may not know there is a registration system set up.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

WOW!!!! I'm the one that started that thread over at DG, and never got around to seeing the ending of it since I didn't renew my membership, and forgot to look at the thread again! Frilly, thanks so much for putting a real/true name to Double Souffle for me!! I never did use it for hybridizing, because it was bugging the heck out of me that it appeared to be stolen, and then a new name was attached. Now I'm going to use it!

ok so say if you were wholesale and you wanted to sell large amounts of PINK ABC you could just pot up any old thing and sell it as such because it doesn't exist anyway.

The thing that is really bugging me is that they trademark the name that they put on a daylily that has been registered previously, by someone else.

oh, yeah, that makes it seem like "theirs" when it is really someone else's work. That nails the lid in the coffin for me so to speak. And it makes the buyer think they are getting something "new".

I bought my daylily at Home Depot, because it was pretty. I didn't pay any attention to the label until later, and still thought at that moment that it was just a hybrid that the company created. I just loved it at the time, and I still love it. I decided to use it for hybridizing, and that is when I realized that something fishy was going on. I have no respect for that company because they renamed an already named daylily, putting their name on it, and duped people.

With all the daylily choices and sellers out there, I don't feel it is necessary to buy from any questionable source, again.
