I've had this one for the last 2 years. Love it.

Anyone know what the plant is for 2015?

Victory is another wonderful Hosta. It achieved mature size in 2-3 years. I have some OP seedlings of it that are just germinating.
Victory in my garden.

How do they know which Hosta will win in 2016?? Aren't they jumping the gun?? Confused

No, Susan, AHS members vote two or even three years ahead to give growers plenty of time to propagate them.

I have 12 Curlley Fries that I bought last year, and I just ordered 24 for delivery late May 2014.

I get a really great deal from QandZ and I grow them at least one year before I sell them. The new arrivals will be held until 2015 or 2016.

Many times I already had plenty of the future newly-announced hosta of the year, but I might buy more just in case many want it later. I have a few beds that have only hostas of the year. Many of my customers follow suit and they always come back for the new ones.

I see 3 different spellings in this thread for 'Curly Fries'. Which one is correct?

I'll have to have a look at 'Owen Donahue' and 'Victory', neither of which is in my garden. Of course, my garden, on a regular suburban lot, already has more hostas than will easily fit. I'm at a point where I need to be chucking the ones which are duds and replacing them with better growers.

Good morning, Ann.

Curly Fries is the correct spelling. Owen Donahue is named after my only grandson and it is a mutation that took almost ten years to develop. Less than 12 growers have Owen, but he is growing in different parts of the country. Virginiarose has one and Marilyn Maryott has one in California. When I locate a picture, I will post it.

Many hosta growers with space limits are turning to the miniature or dwarf sized plants, and frequently these are grown in pots or small raised planters.

I'm in Canada and limited as to where I can purchase hostas. Have about 190 varieties in a 60' x 100' lot (plus 15-20 ' easement in depth). I have only a few which are really large. Most of them are small-medium with a lot of minis as well. Still have a lot of pots, but they have to be buried in the veggie garden for the winter if I want to be sure they'll survive.

If you follow the link below, I've tracked what I have since 2008 with annual picture updates.

I have always loved your gardens Ann!

Donahue is still small but is coming along. I need to divide or move a few around in spring. Good to hear about Victory because this is his 3rd year and it is getting big, that one and Satisfaction were crowding one of my Coral Bells so I will move that too.

I don't see an entry in our database here at NGA for Hosta 'Owen Donahue'?
I would love to see a photo of a mature plant. How tall does this one get?
