G.H. Wild has a clearance sale on some of their daylilies. They have an entire collection of 16 for $25, or you can order individual fans for $2. I ended up ordering 10:) In other words, I already had 6 of the sixteen. They also had some ornamental grass on clearance.

Frank, I got their catalog recently.

I get their catalogs from them all the time, but have never ordered from them. I've heard they aren't the best to get daylilies from, and they only send single fans. I'd rather pay a little more and get double fans.

Karen, most of my early ones were from "Wild". They were small double fans that took off after a couple yrs.

I don't order from them either. When I first got into daylilies about 20 years ago I did order a lot from Wild's and Oake's. Get all of my daylilies off of the Lily Auction now and maybe sometimes from a website or catalog.

Will you tell us why you no longer by from Wilds's and Oake's. Were you dissatisfied with their plants, their prices, their selection? Did you just outgrow the type plants they offered and move on to the newest crosses? Do you think Wild's would still be a good choice for beginners? Or, would you advise the Lily Auction even for those just starting out. What makes the lily auction better? Hope you don't mind just a few questions?

Wild's just no longer sells a lot of the newer daylilies and Oakes I think is expensive. Nothing wrong with the plants except a lot I have seen on Oakes are older daylilies (nothing wrong with that either) but the prices are too high for the older ones. You can get those same daylilies on the Lily Auction for better prices. You have a much better choice on the Lily Auction. I have gotten very nice plants except for a few small ones here and there but basically I prefer the auction.

Thanks, I just need some garden variety daylilies to fill in some empty spots, so I am liking the prices I see at Wild's, plus they have several that are on my rust resistant list and included in their sale.

I just went ahead and ordered from Wild's. Total order of just over $50.00, my first daylily order on line. Not much by most standards but a large order for me, but I don't think the prices could be beat. My main concern were that they all be rust resistant, then I wanted a mixture of blooming times, and finally a mixture of blooms, of course at those prices, nothing fancy.
Awesome Blossom, Spanish Glow, Tuscawilla Tigress, Lavender Stardust, Rose Emily, Hush Little Baby, Jolyene Nichole, Sunday Gloves (my favorite of the bunch), and Lime Frost (my second favorite).

I have gotten daylilies from wilds.. their daylilies are a bit small but all lived... a couple were the wrong color. I also ordered hostas from them.. the Hostas were great!!
they were good sized and had big root system. their prices are good! glad you found some you like!!

I was expecting them to be small from the price, but I can grow them up to size, that's part of the fun.

If it weren't for Gilbert Wild I would never have become a fan of daylilies!

I just posted pictures of an oldie called 'Orange Velvet' that I bought from Gilbert Wild years ago.

I was so naïve I didn't know anyone else sold daylilies at the time! :)

I bought many daylilies straight from their online catalogue and never once was I disappointed.

The plants I got were *always* good-size and -in my garden- they took right off and even bloomed the same year.

I have ~160 daylilies. Over 90 are from Wild. No problems, good size fans, good plants.

I have also ordered lilies and peonies from them. One of the peonies was not the correct variety, I was quickly refunded.

Their prices are very low. I am a happy plantsman:)

I purchased ‘Bela Lugosi” from Wild in Sept, 2011 for $5. It had a couple of blooms in 2012. Many more in 2013.

frankrichards16, Thanks for posting the pic, it looks great, maybe in two years mine will look like that. If I get my plants early, I might even get blooms the first year. Heck I only paid $4.00 for my "Bela Lugosi", I guess inflation does not apply to daylilies! Oh, and thanks for posting the sale!

Mike, most of the daylilies I have are hand me downs, so they are mostly yellows and oranges, don't even know the names of some of them. So I think because the "Whites" are so different I am more attracted to them, I just thought they would be a great contrast with the other colors and the dark green of the leaves. I ordered the rust resistant varieties because I hate to see rusty yellowing foliage, I spent most of the summer yanking leaves off the daylilies to keep them looking good. I can't help but believe that has to eventually weaken the plants. Of course with the older varieties rust was not even known to exist, to me 2000 is recent, think that is showing my age a bit.

Last year I vacationed a couple of days in Panama City, Florida and where do you think I wound up? -a daylily garden, of course!

While I was in Panama City, I talked my husband into driving out to Dragon's Mead Daylily Garden, owned by Cindy & Randy Fleming.

Randy is such a nice guy! He graciously stood with me in the rain and posed for this photo with me even though it drizzled rain the entire visit. My hair was so floppy & frizzy from the humidity by the time I left!

While there, I bought Alien Contact and Lilacs For Galadriel.

His list of daylilies for sale is found in PlantStep online, which I'm sure, most of you guys are familiar with.

Still, rain or sunshine -there's nothing like visiting a sales garden and see the plants in bloom, yourself! ;)

I have bought from Wild's when I first got into daylilies. When I got the order I was horrified at the size of the plants because they were so small compared to the others I have received elsewhere even from colder climates. I really didn't think they would bloom the following season but I believe 95% of them did and most increased well.

It seems that Wild's ships smaller daylilies that most other venders, yet the replies show the plants do very well. So my question is how important is plant size when receiving a new daylily?

Well to me NOW it really doesn't matter the size unless I pay a high price and I get something smaller than a pencil that really has no roots and I know won't bloom for at least 2 years if it survives. As long as there are good roots I am ok with smaller plants.
