I have a couple seedlings (that will be registered soon), that I want to pair up with something with a very ruffled edge.

There are lots of ruffled Tets, but these particular seedlings are Dips. I'd especially like to find a tall near white ruffled beauty that has an edge something like "Wonder of it All".

Suggestions anyone?

This is one of the seedlings :

I've started a few seeds with it paired up with:

"Embroidery Stitching" (Shooter, 2007)

and "Sour Puss" (Shooter, 2004)

This is the other one that I want to "fancy up"
It's been registered for our Granddaughter "Faith Marie"

Hi Kathy,
Love the 2 intros! I have been starting to pick up some edged dips because I think that is an interesting road to go down as far as hybridizing because there are not very many out there yet.

Here is what I have:

A SERVANT'S HAND (click the pic to make it bigger so you can see the detail of the edge)

ANNIE'S DELIGHT

ELOQUENTLY EDGED

LAVENDER TRIM

LEE'S LOSS -a personal favorite, but is very short

LEONARD SAUTER -if you click on the pic, you can see the little bit of gold edge on the upper right petal

MARIETTA MOMENTO -this one fits your request a little better and is very nice

One last one. WITH A KISS -this one has a little height at 33"

Most of those are short and definitely not near-white, but hopefully a few will catch your hybridizing eye. Smiling

Chelsea My Lady seems to have some pretty big ruffles at 36 inches

If you want a huge green throat, Carol Van Iver is 36

A nice Marietta Momento offspring, Heaven's Edge, 31 inches

A Servant's Hand is probably in the shade that is one of my very favorites. I love that smoky salmon pink shade. And I just saw in its description that it is supposed to be very fragrant... what a great bonus to to beautiful daylily!

I also really like Champagne Elegance. Love those large ruffles and the name too. Smiling

Wow! Thanks guys for the great possibilities. I was having no luck searching on my own, I really appreciate the help.

I was also thinking that my two plants, would make some pretty babies with "Nikki's Haiku"

Nikki's Haiku (Willis, 2012)
height 40in (102cm), bloom 7.5in (19.0cm), season M, Semi-Evergreen, Diploid, 16 buds, 3 branches, Cream and yellow blend with yellow veins and a yellow green throat. (Aquamarine × Skinwalker)

Well, this has been educational for me -- I had no idea there were dips with this much ruffling and fancy edging -- fantastic! I really love the elegant ruffles on these dips!

Wow, lovely seedling Kathy, and all these dips are too.
Had no idea that dips are that edgy since I cross mostly tets.
Very nice UFs as well. There are so many gorgeous daylily
flowers. It's difficult to make a selection each year.

It looks like "Marietta Momento" has a lot of potential for a fancy edged dip. There are 25 offspring

'Marietta Song Bird' looks very interesting and is the tallest one.

Oh Kathy...would love to see some kids out of yours and NIKKI'S HAIKU!
Tina, thanks for the compliment on NH! It has was one of my very first seedlings. It was always a favorite and I grew it for many years before I shared a piece with Nikki Schmith and she loved it too, so I registered it. Smiling Thanks too for sharing all of the great pics! I have been wanting CAROL VAN SCIVER.
Just wanted to let Kathy know that I have grown CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE (gorgeous!!) and MORNING GRACE, but they did not do well for me and are now gone.

Nicole @snickerspooh I have admired your amazing daylily database photos forever! Each time I think I have reached the most hidden gem ... there you are with a picture of it where no others exist! Thumbs up After years of finding this to be the case, I can tell you have an incredibly deep experience and knowledge with DLs, so I especially appreciate your note above on Champagne Elegance, one I have been interested in ... was it a case of a tender semi in zone 5b, or a general lack of vigor?

I can't even imagine what an amazing collection of daylilies you have, or have had, in your garden to enjoy! Lovey dubby

Hi Tina!
Thanks so much for the compliment on my photos! It has been a passion (obsession?) of mine from the beginning of my daylily journey to make 'real garden' photos available online of all daylilies in commerce (because the descriptions really don't give you much of an idea what a flower looks like) and to hunt down some of the unusual cultivars that 'seem' to have disappeared. A lofty goal and one I am sure that I will forever be striving to reach it. Blinking
As far as CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE goes...I do think that it was a case of a dl that just doesn't appreciate the cold MI winters. (I can relate! LOL) It did okay after the first winter here and then began having issues coming back in the spring. Eventually it just stopped blooming altogether. I think I even kept through 2 summers with no blooms before deciding to send it south. It is such a pretty bloom and since you should be able to get it for $5 somewhere, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot in a warmer climate!

I do currently grow around 1200-1300 different varieties. Over the years I have had many come and go too. I also take a lot of photos (I think I took over 400 at the last Region 2 summer mtg) when I visit other gardens and especially when I go to Regionals or Nationals! LOVE to see what others are growing that I have not seen before.

Now...let's get back to those edged dips!! I am taking notes here too. Big Grin

Nicole, I was looking at all your daylily pictures and you sure have a lot. I have many that you do (older ones). The fact that you live so close to me is great. Maybe I will have to come and visit or we can do some trading. Looks like you don't have any of mine yet.
