@Eric4home and @beckygardener got me with their container gardening articles, and I'm planning on lining my two 20-gal. wooden deck planters with a heavy-duty liner to create two peaceful container ponds, maybe with bubblers since my deck has outlets. Thing is, those are filled with Autumn Joy sedum right now--have been since we moved in. It's a LOT of sedum, and though I may save some to plant elsewhere, I really never liked it in my deck planters anyway.

Anyone have water plants appropriate for a 15-inch square container pond or two--and want some sedum divisions?

I have Nymphoides aquatica.
Banana Plant (Nymphoides aquatica)

In the wild the get about 7 inches across, but in a container they stay small.
Here is a picture of some I have been growing in a 15 gallon tupperware tote for a few years. They will turn more green when it warms up.

That's pretty! Do you know how well would it do in less than full sun? I should have mentioned my deck is part sun/part shade. The sedums do great and bloom reliably in fall, but they're very well established (I would guess over 10 years).

I'm not positive, but I would think they would do ok. The brighter the light the better they will grow and bloom, but people do use them in aquariums which are usually very low light. I think the would do good in even part sun. The one in the picture above probably didn't get more than 3 hour of full sun during the winter.
