I haven't done one of these parades in a long time because it's so difficult to keep up when all of the roses start blooming like crazy, but there aren't that many blooms in March -- fewer than a hundred photos. Besides, I have a selfish reason for doing this: The thread will provide me with a record of the roses I can expect to bloom in March if I finish my pruning in December.

The descriptions will be provided in sets of three, from left to right.

1) About Face, a Carruth grandiflora; 2) Acropolis, a Meilland shrub; 3) Alice Pat, a Jerabek floribunda

1) Aloha, the Boerner climbing hybrid tea, not the Kordes climber; 2) Ambridge Rose, an Austin shrub; 3) Apricot Candy, a Meilland hybrid tea

1) Archduke Charles, a Dubourg china; Arizona, a Swim grandiflora; 3) Auguste Gervais, a hybrid wichurana with blooms slightly larger than the usual for this class -- 3-4 inches across instead of 2 inches

These three are all Rosa banksia f. lutea. The first is the one I was so worried about earlier this year, but I was wrong. This is just one corner of it. It covers three arbors and the garage roof, and it's growing up into the silk mimosa tree behind it. The second is a closeup of the tiny blooms. The third is another of the banksias, which covers a gazebo.

1) Berries 'n' Cream, an Olesen climber; 2) Bischofsstadt Paderborn, a Kordes shrub; 3) Brigadoon, a Warriner hybrid tea

1) Brown Study, a Jerabek floribunda; 2) Camille Pissarro, a Delbard floribunda; 3) Caramella, one of the Kordes Fairy Tale shrubs

1) Carefree Celebration, a Radler shrub; 2) Carnation, an old china rose of unknown origin; 3) Casino, a McGredy climber

I don't feel comfortable adding any more to one post because we've had a lot of rain, and the saturated soil could bring a tree down and cause a power outage. I don't want to go through all of this and then lose the post, so the parade will consist of several posts.

Here we go again:

1) Cecile Brunner, a climbing polyantha; 2) Champagne Cocktail, a Horner floribunda; 3) Cherry Parfait, a Meilland floribunda

1) Cherry-Vanilla, an Armstrong grandiflora; 2) Clair Matin, a Meilland climbing floribunda; 3) Confetti, a Swim floribunda

1) Cottage Rose, an Austin shrub; 2) Cramoisi Superieur, an old china that's probably the easiest rose to grow. It grows in empty lots where no one cares for the roses; 3) Crepuscule, a climbing noisette

1) Distant Drums, a Buck shrub; 2) Double Delight, a Swim hybrid tea; 3) Dream Weaver, a Zary climbing floribunda

1) Edith Holden, a Warner floribunda; 2) Eyepaint, one of McGredy's handpainted floribundas; 3) Felicia, a Pemberton hybrid musk

1) Fragrant Apricot, a Zary floribunda; 2) Freckle Face, a Buck shrub; 3) Funny Face, a Ping Lim shrub

1) Gemini, a Zary hybrid tea; 2) Gina's Rose, a Ralph Moore shrub; 3) Givenchy, a Christensen hybrid tea

1) Glory Days, a Warriner hybrid tea; 2) High Sheriff, a Harkness hybrid tea; 3) Hot Cocoa, a Carruth floribunda

1) J.C. Thornton, a Bees hybrid tea; 2) Jardins de Viels Maisons, one of Dominique Massad's Generosa shrubs; 3) Just Joey, a Cants of Colchester hybrid tea

1) Lasting Love, an Adam hybrid tea, which should look redder, but the camera wouldn't cooperate that day; 2) Leonie Lamesch, a Lambert polyantha; 3) Leontine Gervais, a hybrid wichurana that looks just like Auguste Gervais, but with smaller blooms

1) Lorise Wojciechowski, a Jalbert hybrid tea; 2) Lovestruck, a Zary floribunda; 3) Madame Alfred Carriere, a climbing noisette

1) Mariposa Gem, a Ralph Moore shrub; 2) Monsieur Tillier, a Bernaix tea; 3) Mrs. B.R. Cant, a tea hybridized by B.R. Cant

1) Music Box, a Ping Lim shrub; 2) Nigrette, a Krause hybrid tea; 3) Octoberfest, a McGredy grandiflora

1) Old Blush, an old china of unknown origin; 2) Painted Moon, a Dickson hybrid tea; 3) Pat Austin, an Austin shrub

1) Peach Beauty, a Boerner hybrid tea, which has produced a bloom that's high centered enough to qualify as a freak of nature, but I'm posting it here anyway because of those selfish record-keeping motives I mentioned before; 2) Pegasus, an Austin shrub; 3) Pensioners Voice, a Fryer floribunda

1) Playboy, a Cocker floribunda; 2) Pretty Lady, a Scrivens floribunda; 3) Purezza, a banksia that reblooms and has the sweet scent of violets

1) Rainbow Niagara, a McGredy hybrid tea; 2) Rainbow Sorbet, a Ping Lim floribunda; 3) Rainforest, a Ralph Moore floribunda

1) Rio Samba, a Warriner hybrid tea; 2) Rosemary Harkness, a Harkness hybrid tea; 3) Royal Bonica, a sport of Bonica with fuller blooms

1) Souvenir de Madame Leonie Viennot, a Bernaix climbing noisette; 2) Special Occasion, a Fryer hybrid tea; 3) St. Cecilia, an Austin shrub

1) Summer Memories, a Kordes shrub; 2) Opal Brunner, which I had misidentified as something else and caused it to jump out of alphabetical order. It's a Marshall floribunda; 3) Thanksgiving, this is the Warriner hybrid tea. I have another Thanksgiving that's also a hybrid tea but was hybridized by Howard

1) Three Weddings, a Pallek climber; 2) Topsy Turvy, a Carruth floribunda; 3) Versigny, another of Massad's Generosa shrubs

1) Winter Sunset, a Buck shrub; 2) Zambra, a Meilland floribunda; 3) That was the end of the alphabet, but I have an empty space to fill, so I'll throw in one of the photos that was headed for the Recycle Bin. Some, like this one of Devoniensis, were so high up that the photos were blurry, and others were either ugly rain-wrecked blooms or misleading colors. About a dozen other roses bloomed in March, but some weren't camera-accessible because they were obscured by so many other rose bushes that I would have risked death by a thousand thorns getting to them. So, the third photo is of Devoniensis, a climbing tea.
