Are daylilies addictive?

Yesterday, a friend gave me about 100 1-2 & 3 gallon used flower pots and I was so excited to get them.

Today, 2 boxes of daylilies arrived and I've had so much fun opening the packages...like Christmas!

Still waiting for another shipment and some seeds.
Then there is Daylily Mecca in May...
After that, I'm going on the wagon.

No daylilies are not addictive they just make you happy!!! Whistling Angel Whistling

Just consider no need for mental therapy, you get exercise and have a lovely yard. Seems to me like they are worth their weight in gold.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

Sorry to break it to you, but I'm afraid there's probably no wagon for you... Once you've started checking out the Lily Auction you're probably already a gonner... I know I keep checking it (and getting into even more trouble!) all the time year-round now, and I can't go a week without needing that fix! Hilarious! nodding

Sounds like you've already gotten a great haul now, and lots of pots for them if you need them. And when those beauties start blooming -- I predict you'll HAVE to check the LA just to see what's available... and so it goes...

That's a lot of pots! Sounds like they will fill fast with all the new daylilies arriving. Enjoy!

I can't believe I used up so many pots today.
One order was supposed to be for 9 plants, but 13 arrived -- nice happening.
Then there are lots of seeds to plant.

I find I can monitor plants better in pots, at least until they are established.
I have a ton of amaryllis to re-pot also.
I originally started with amaryllis, but somehow got sidetracked in the catalogs.
Then I found the daylily auction site...

Sounds like it's time for you to locate a Daylily Addiction Support Group --- I mean, a local Daylily Society. Thumbs up

Not an addiction, no sir, it's practically a way of life, with fun,
great exercise, less grass to mow, bird attractions, and especially
the sense of peace when walking through the garden admiring all
the blooms. Cue the music.

Doris and I are not addicted. We could stop at any time, if we wanted to stop. We just don't want to right now. We hardly ever talk about it, or think about it. We prefer to stay inside and watching those riveting TV shows. We only go outside when they cut off cable for nonpayment of the bill. We might have gone over on the DL budget (plants, fertilizers, pine straw, other absolute necessities) a tad. Our kids don't really need much of an inheritance, plus they will get all of these flowers when we croak. So, daylilies are just a tiny hobby that we fool around with when we are awake. That's about the only time, though. Except for the dreams about daylilies growing in a pristine garden with no work needed whatsoever. Yeah, it's raining right now, but we need it.

Thanks, Vickie. Group hug We'll just be known as the daylily way-of-lifers group.

David, I'm Rolling on the floor laughing with the suggestion of "only when awake". Isn't that the truth?
Although sometimes daylilies occur in dreams too.

The pristine image of the garden without the work appeals to me too at times
when work gets overwhelming. Today, I was thinking of all those wheel barrow
loads of blooms gathered at the end of each day. Now, that can really get
overwhelming especially in peak season. But, then, there are advantages to
that as well such as weight loss. All that walking, you know.
