Last year I found this rose laying beside the curb, tossed as dead. I could tell it had a little life left so I picked it up brought it home and planted it. Now I would love to know if possible what the name of it is. This is the first bloom of the year, so it may not be the best to try and ID it from, but for now it is all I have.

It's a pretty little thing but is not quite distinct enough to venture a guess. Are the blooms one to a stem? If you could provide additional photos as the bloom season progresses and different stages of the bloom, it might help.
@Zuzu might have a few suggestions.

For now it is one bloom per bush! I do hope it does better and I will add pic as it progresses.
Thanks, I knew from the awful photos it would be hard to tell, the one bloom is on the back side of the bush, and right next to a fence and the sun was not helping any.

May I add a "Wow, nice save!" Wish my neighbors would toss nice roses like that.

In your last pic of the bush it looks like there are two buds on a couple of the stems coming along, right? Perhaps a floribunda then, not a Hybrid Tea.

Any fragrance? Once it hits its stride, measure the size of the bloom too, that will help with ID.

I had one in Utah called "French Lace" that was a similar color and flower shape - at first. As the weather got hotter, the blooms got paler pink until they were almost ivory at the height of summer. It was one of those 'popular' ones in the mid-90's that came and went rather fast as it wasn't the most robust bush. Maybe that's why your neighbor ditched it?

Congratulations! You've nursed a plant that had "a little life left" into a healthy rose bush. The foliage is beautiful! I see the beginnings of clusters at the tips of a couple of canes, so that should help in the identification. This will have to wait, however, until we know the size of the full-grown bush, the fragrance (or lack of fragrance), and the appearance of the blooms in different stages, as Sue pointed out.

Updated photos, the bloom changes to almost white as it ages. The full bloom is 4" across and it does have a lovely "Rose" smell. I counted over 40 petals on one of the older blooms. Right now the plant is just about 30 inches tall.

The bloom does resemble it in color, but I don't think this is a hybrid tea looking at the buds on the stem. I am confused on the bloom shape, it starts out looking like a high center then flattens out more as it ages. I am also not sure how accurate the petal count on roses is but this one had over forrty.

The combination of this bloom shape and plant habit suggests that this is a grandiflora (back-crosses between hybrid teas and floribundas that produce tall rose bushes with high-centered blooms in small clusters). I searched through all of the grandifloras in our database and couldn't find anything resembling this rose, but then I thought of the European hybrid teas that were not classified as grandifloras because that class was not recognized by everyone there. I think your rose might be Just Joey or Whisky Mac.

My 'Just Joey' grows quite tall, the new stems and leaves are a deep plum/burgundy colour. It doesn't thrive but keeps on keeping on. The scent is powerful, the reason I bought it! The flowers are huge when fully open which belies the opening bud. I should take photos of a new stem and leaves, it won't be in flower for ages yet here.

Thanks for all that info, I think they both look very close. So close that I can not tell between the two which one it actually is. I am leaning more toward 'Whisky Mac' for two reasons, the yellow orange color seems to fit better than copper shading, but more importantly I feel I now have a reason for the flower being tossed to the curb, it had a drinking problem!

They certainly are close. I remember a long discussion about this in the Rose Forum on another site. One of the members had misplaced her garden maps showing where Just Joey, Whisky Mac, Brandy, and Medallion had been planted and she couldn't figure out which was which.

The leaves and flowers don't look like Just Joey to me, Whisky Mac looks the most likely.

Just what are the differences in the leafs that you can see, I will focus on that for now. I know my camera does not do justice to the blooms actual color.

If you compare the leaves on the blog I linked to above, put your photo next to this one, you can see the leaves of Just Joey are broader. If you can't see it, look close to the tip of the leaves, those on your rose have a gradual slant.

It's dark now so I can't take photos of mine but the one on the blog looks like a typical Just Joey. When you've been looking at small details for a few years you can spot these differences.

Oh yes, I can see the 'Just Joey' leaves look fatter and rounder to me. I am thinking it is 'Whiskey Mac', should I look further or do we agree on the name?
