First the 'Flora do Brasil' lists 1 banana sp as native, they name it Musa paradisiaca.

I know it should be Musa x paradisiaca according to 'The Plantlist'.

There are many varieties in shape and taste growing and sold in Brazil.
The land of my friends where I stayed, had two types growing which they call:
'Banana da Prata' and 'Banana da Terra' the last one being a cooking banana with visible seeds inside and a different shape.
Then I still have a photo of the Apple Banana (different again in shape and flavour) taken on a food market in Rio.

Do I enter all those different ones under Musa x paradisiaca??

Hi Myriam,

I created an entry for the Prata banana. Banana (Musa x paradisiaca 'Prata') I did find scientific references for this cv. even though GRIN lists Banana-prata as a common name for Musa x paradisiaca. Just a heads up that the name may change.

I need to spend a bit more time on the Terra, also listed as a common name by Grin. Smiling
Evan
