I took an old square metal screen that was rusted, cleaned it up and spray painted it a glossy black. I then purchased two black shepherd hooks and used plastic ties to secure the screen to the hooks. I planted two different clematis (light purple - Will Goodwin and dark purple - The President). I placed this screen outside my office window and I have these beautiful flowers to look at and a little privacy as well.

Great idea! I have two short crooks that look out of place, they are so insubstantial. Attaching something like that screen would be useful and much more attractive. Thank you for posting!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I love reusing items. I have bought so much stuff over the years and hate to throw some things away. I either see something that someone else has created and try to expand on it or make something on my own. Most of the time it doesn't come out the way I imagined it. But, I do love clematis and they love this little spot in my shady side yard and so the trellis works for them. I love the purple against the black.
