This is the first fascinated daylily I have ever had, can't wait to see what the blooms look like. It, like most of my daylilies, is a NOID. It seems all the buds at the top will eventually spread out, right now they are all packed together.

You might get a couple fused blooms out of it as well. Those are always interesting. Thumbs up

Sets up a lawn chair to join in on the bloom fusion watch. That is one fandango of a daylily! Hilarious!

How unusual! I don't remember seeing a 'fasciated' daylily before. Looking forward to seeing what the blooms look like.

I had a fasciated daylily leave last year but the scape wasn't fasciated. It looked very strange.

I had a mass planting of one variety where the whole group of that same variety decided fasciate one year and the amount of bloom was spectacular. They have never done it again since. Here is a pic of one of the scapes.

Most of the blooms should be normal in shape and size but there may be a few fused or otherwise misshaped blooms and maybe some polys. There are usually more flowers than there would otherwise be and they will be a bit crowded. In my experience they should go back to normal the following year unless the condition that caused them to fasciate in the first place repeats itself. There is a lot of discussion about what causes this but I don't believe that any specific cause has been identified. Some say Virus but ALL of my daylilies that have ever done this have come back in following years with normal scapes and green healthy looking foliage. None of my plants that have ever fasciated (daylilies, lilies, hosta, verbascum, alcea) ever died.

My latest photos of my fascinated daylily. Notice the smallest grasshopper I have ever seen at the top of the first photo.
