Variegated plants add wonderful variety to the garden, and one of the loveliest in my garden is the perennial Jacob's Ladder Brise d’Anjou.

One picture is just as beautiful as the next! I am a sucker for blue flowers, and this one looks like a great one to put under my oak tree. I'll be checking out the garden center for this one. The variegated foliage really is beautiful!

Oh that Brise d'Anjou is lovely! Not familiar with that one; have to check it out. Perhaps it might do well here, and I do love blue!

Mine too. Great job Margaret! Others aren't as delicate and distinct as Bris D'anjou. I just wish I could get it to survive here for more than 3 years.

Thanks for the introduction to the pretty blue flowers. I love them. Will have to keep them in mind when picking out some flowers to go with the love-in-the-mist I want to get some day soon.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments! I tip my hat to you.

Woffie, it is indeed well worth giving it a try, it's an overall lovely plant. Lovey dubby

Evan, I don't see why it shouldn't last longer than 3 years for you, I see your zone 6, much milder than my 3a, maybe location, too dry or too wet, too much sun or shade?? Shrug!

I've been trying to figure it out myself Margaret. Soil too acid, heaving, ...? Will keep trying because it's a special plant.

Thank you Julia and Tee for the nice comments. I tip my hat to you.

Evan, do you mulch your plant? With my plant being under a poplar tree it gets lots of leaf protection, I'm sure that helps it through our long cold winters.

No mulch. That might help with heaving too. Thanks. My local nursery always gets them in so I'll pick up a couple.

Good luck with the new plants Evan, may they live long in your garden with the help of a little winter mulch. Thumbs up

Yea! I located some reasonably priced online at a nursery in CA. They'll be perfect in the new flower bed I'm planning. Smiling

Maintenance of Perennial Beds.
Love Polemonium caeruleum 'Brise d'Anjou' too, Maragaret.
I particularly like the creaminess (yellow/white) of the "white" part of the leaves.

Have a number of Brunnera macrophylla cultivars, though I think 'Variegata' is the most striking.
I've bought the plants as 'Dawson's White'.
I should start nipping reversions out.

Thanks Charlie, it is a beautiful plant, and despite the cold spring, it is showing good signs of growth. Hurray!

Good idea to nip the reversions as soon as you see them. Thumbs up

Thank you for the acorn tip, very much appreciated!

Thought I'd do an update on the Brise d'Anjou I ordered. They just arrived today and I'm very pleased! A new supplier for me and I'm quite impressed. The plants look wonderful and were amazingly securely packed. They're small, but so was the price. Hilarious! The company name is Morningsun Herb Farm in Vacaville, CA, in case anyone else is interested.
