Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay -- I got blossoms!! I got buds!! The Iris Parade in Kentucky is about to begin!!

This is the little purple NOID that grows under the cherry trees next to the deck. I don't remember where I got it, or why -- but it's the first to bloom every year and I just noticed this year for the first time that it has bright white beards!! Why did I never notice that????

Apols for the crappy photo -- I was in a hurry and only took one. Sad

And here's a picture of a bud on Daughter of Stars -- look at the size of it!!

Tom -- buds on your purple seedling:

I think yours is a little too "light colored" ( more "bluish, than purplish Sticking tongue out !) One of the parents of Eleanor, was a selected form of i.germanica, called AMAS, so they do have many similarities. I really think your noid is "farther back in the evolutionary scale", than Eleanor, and probably another form of i.germanica. Take some more pics, and we'll do some more looking!...Arlyn

Could it be Amas itself?

Yes, I'd say it's quite possible. I'm pretty sure MaryAnn's is one of the germanica variants. ...Arlyn

doesn't ER re-bloom as well? There is height difference too (between Amas & ER)

Yes, ER has a re-bloom tendency, the "other" parent, I think, was I. pumila, so that made ER shorter than AMAS, or the other "germanica", and also gave it the "re-bloom", as well as a shorter stature...Arlyn

Got some photos to share this evening! Green Grin!

But first -- Tom, I'm sorry I missed your question several days ago -- we've had out-of-town guests and I have been breezing through the threads quickly. To answer your question -- no it's not been cold here, just the opposite. Last few days have been pretty pleasant. Guess there's a cold front on its way though -- just behind this storm front that rolled through here the past 24 hours. We've had so much rain that roads are flooded -- and my Irises are sitting in standing water!!! Blinking

First is *Let's Be Friends* unfurling:

Maybe later today you'll see them open. You're on your way. I have a couple of fat leaves on some minis starting to show.

Can't wait to see what they look like fully open. Curious about Dragon's Flight and Let's Be Friends. And we have your rain now in NC. Hope the flooding isn't contagious!

I can see from the house that Let's Be Friends and Tom's seedling are fully open. Honey Glazed must be too.

Tom's seedling is beautiful -- richly purple and standing tall next to my Japanese Red Maple! Lovey dubby Pictures later!!
