Since it's variegated plants month, I thought someone might be able to recognize what this variegated vine is. It grows wild in my yard, tx, zone 8a. It has small thorns. I have never seen a flower.

Eye of the beholder and all that, I suppose. Shrug!

I'm so tired of pulling Smilax Grumbling out of trees and digging up the big ugly tumors (ok... tubers) I have a hard time wrapping my mind around someone actually wanting to purposely plant these aggressive flesh-ripping vines in a special position in their garden in order to better appreciate their beauty! Blinking

If you twist my arm until it's ready to snap while standing on my big toe with high heels, I =might= finally, grudgingly, admit the variegated pattern on the leaves is attractive. But I will NEVER smile on it's presence on my property! Thumbs down Thumbs down Thumbs down

That's very funny, and deserves an acorn for wit.

Maybe some day your hatred toward Smilax will be equally as vile as mine, but I hope not.

Even horrid weeds need someone to love them, I suppose. Smiling

In the meantime, enjoy! Everyone should take the time to appreciate beauty where they find it.
