This beauty came from Home Depot. The tag says Brandy, but the pink ones next to it also said Brandy. It has a wonderful scent, and appears to be more of a floribunda. What do you all think?

It seems to be an unusual muted tannish yellow, is that correct? Nothing comes to mind for me. Shrug!

'Brandy' is a Swim & Christensen (1981) rose which has an apricot to orange color. Another Swim & Christensen rose (1982) is 'Candlelight' which is supposed to be a deep yellow color, but the photos on HMF show various shades of yellow. 'Candlelight' also has more petals than 'Brandy'.

Just a thought ... I haven't grown either rose.

Lyn

It certainly isn't Brandy, and I don't think it's Candlelight either. The color's off for both, and neither of those roses has ruffled petals anyway.

This one's a real charmer. I love it. I can tell you that it's not a rose that's growing in my garden, if that helps.

I agree

I wasn't sure about the 'Candlelight' ID. I've only seen the rose in photos.

The color reminds me of faded Honey Dijon or Butterscotch

In bright morning light, the color is more accurate on my cell camera. Sorry for misleading you! The yellow is more like Julia Child.

*Blush* *Blush* *Blush* Good grief! I'll bet it IS Julia!
Looks just like her! The scent is all wrong, though. Julia has a distinctive "licorice-clove" scent and this is more green apple.
I can't believe our HD would carry such a new rose, since usually all they have are knockout types and old HTs.
The grower is BFN/Berry, in Oklahoma. I looked at their website to see which roses they offer, and Walking on Sunshine was the only one that came close. This one is a creamy yellow. They don't have Julia Child listed.
I also bought a pink rose that day. It was labeled Morden Sunrise, which is wrong. They had red roses labeled Louise Odier, so I thought maybe my pink is Louise. It sure smells like her. nodding

Hmm they don't list Louise Odier but they for sure had a label with that name from their nursery. Something weird here.
mine looks like the Smooth Buttercup, but with thorns.
Now I'm leaning more towards Walking on Sunshine. Hmmm. Confused

Could very well be Rose (Rosa 'Walking on Sunshine'). I have seen it light yellow and as Betty's photos show, intense yellow.

Good grief! I went to Lowes, and they also have a rose labeled "Brandy", from the same growers as the roses at HD. Here's the Lowes version:

And here is their version of "Tiffany":

I think they are both pretty--purple is Angel Face, right? Who is the first one?

Cindi - first one kinda looks like a muted Playboy.. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... Blue one is AngelFace I'm betting the farm on. Ruffled petals give it away. And there's a comment I made many moons ago.. tags LIE. I bought a beautiful brilliant white rose that was marked Chrysler Imperial...

I recently salvaged two dying roses from Tractor Supply Co labeled Blaze. One probably is, the other blooms yellow.

I hope that my Home Depot has Walking on Sunshine with or without the correct label on Thursday. I love buttery yellow roses and I am not sure Julia Child survived the move.

Will the real Brandy please stand up? I found this one at an Ace Hardware store near Kansas City this weekend. I think it might be the real deal. I didn't buy it, though, because the price was double what nurseries charge. It was grown by same growers as the others, but in North Carolina instead of Oklahoma. Everything I saw at the Ace appeared to be marked correctly.
