Hi Toni,
You have beautiful photos in your blog, so I guess you've mastered the art of posting photos; this blog works just like the threads do in the forums.

If you are talking about banners, here's the Site Banners forum and when you click on it look to the right and there are instructions on how to make a banner from your photos: http://garden.org/forums/view/...

If you are talking about entering your pictures into the Plant Database, then click on that which should appear on the left of your home page; key in the name of the plant you have in the photo you want to submit and it will take you to the page dedicated to that plant.

Here is a link to the Plant Database http://garden.org/plants/

The other great forum for information is the Site Talk Forum: http://garden.org/forums/view/...

Maybe this will help a little bit, or maybe I misunderstood the question. Hope it helps!
I know you'll enjoy ATP, it's a great site and all the members are helpful.

Sharon ~ Thank you so much. You did indeed help. I did go to the database thinking I could post my version of plants already in the plant database, but I couldn’t figure that out. I can tell while looking through the database, that several different people have photos of the plant. So, I tried to add my plant as well but don’t know how. Also, I can tell that members post pictures pertaining to whatever the theme of the week is ~ for instance “shade week” but how do they post those pictures? Do they all just post pictures on their blog and then they somehow populate the home page? I just struggle with navigating .... *Blush* I am sure glad that Trish and Dave mention a tidbit of using the website with each of the podcasts, it has helped me up to this point.

Hi Toni,
You might be talking about the pictures that go with the ideas that are posted to the right on your home page, is that it?? Those pictures are posted within the articles/ideas and if you have an idea or even a longer article , you are welcome to submit it here in "Ideas" :
http://garden.org/ideas/

Same with the banners across the top but I gave you that link up above, I think.

I noticed you posted a multiple plant photo already and you did fine with that. You can also link the plants in your multi photo with the same plants in the database. When you get to that point, just ask.

When you go to the plant database in order to post specific pictures you need to post the specific name into the search line, as in river birch trees. I'd go into the plant database and key in ' river birch ' (no quotes marks, though) in the search line, then search, and the page should come up showing several plants with the word river or birch in them. Look again for river birch and it should be there though you might have to scroll to find it. Click on it when found and it will take you to a page of descriptions for the plant then scroll down and you should see in blue directions to add your picture, from there you just do what it asks you to do. Or, you can do the same thing with the botanical name, probably even faster.

Once you post a new picture to the DB, then since you are new, the first 10 that you post will probably need to be approved for accuracy. but the DB administrators are great and will let you know when it is approved. Once approved it will show on the home page on the left side.

Don't get frustrated, I think you'll do just fine. And you can always click on anybody's name and have the option of sending that person a Tmail if you have a question. We all were new members at one time, and in a very short time you'll be able to find your way around quickly.

Promise it will get much easier! Thumbs up

Great info and instruction I tip my hat to you. Thank You!
I will give it a go asap. I love the site even if all I can do is read and look at everyone's photos. Being able to contribute some little thing adds just a little more fun factor Hurray!

That's the best way to learn, Toni, just go ahead and do one little thing at a time. And if you need help all you need to do is ask. It's a great membership.

Happy Mother's Day to you as well. Enjoy!

I too am having a difficult time finding the path to just submit photos. These are flowers wherein I only know the generic name, e.g. Amaryllis, but not the specific commercial name, so this does not qualify me for the DB entry. Could you please route the steps for just submitting photos for the home page. Thank you.

Hi Fleur,

Many of the plants in the database also have catch-all "generic" entries for photos of unknown cultivars. For example:

This is the one for amaryllis Amaryllis

To find others just go to the database and type the name of your plant in the search box, then look at (usually) the third blue line for the words "» Access the generic (plant name) entry"

Once your image(s) have been added they'll move briefly across the homepage as newly added images, and then be replaced by others. They will remain in the DB once they've been uploaded, even if their position on the page changes over time. Smiling
