Well I only have one Heuchera photo to my name and it's not a very good one. But I will happily post it to encourage others to post their wonderful shots.

Now if only I could remember which one this is. Anyone want to venture a guess?

I've got a few old pictures. Nothing happening in my gardens yet this year. The snow just melted last week!

This is Harvest Silver. Not much exciting about the plant itself, but it has a very unusual color flower.



And Tiramisu, really pretty in the spring but it doesn't hold these nice colors for me in the heat of summer.

Very nice. ..... I lost all my pictures last Fall when my computer crashed. I am hoping to have more pix this year.

I download all my pictures on discs in case of computer crashes. I'm paranoid - just don't trust computers.

Mine are just waking up too. They really don't go dormant to the ground, but the foliage that over winters is kind of sad looking.

Pam, Last Sunday I found one that I had been saving for Allison in a gallon pot buried under the pile of burnt debris on my back patio.

It survived the flames, heat, soot, smoke, falling and spending the winter encased in ice. It isn't pretty, but it is alive and well.

Some of mine out in the garden look worse than that right now!

So what do we do with them in the spring -- do we cut them back? do we just pull the dried leaves off? Need heuch help!!

I just remove the dead stuff. Sometimes the crown will heave out of the ground from freeze/thaw cycles and will have to be replanted lower again.

I'm really happy to say that for once I don't have to replant any this year. Our ground actually stayed frozen once it froze so there wasn't any heaving. This is very unusual for us. I do however have to scrape away all of the leaves that are burying them now. The leaves had not yet fallen when the house burned, so now I have to do both fall & spring clean up.

Sounds like a lot of work Stormy. Did most of your plants/gardens survive the fire?

Oh yes, Chris. Most of them are out in my big beds.

It's the plants around the house or sitting on the deck, patio and in my work area that were destroyed. I also lost all of my tropicals, having just brought them all inside. I lost 7 of my potted Japanese Maples.

I will have to move a ton of plants and shrubs for the fix up.

Are you able to repair your home? Any specific kind of plants you'd like to replace (that I may have)?

Chris, Yes it will be repaired. The interior has to be gutted down to the frame, but most of the exterior except the back wall and the roof are undamaged. All of the doors and windows have to be replaced too.

Thank you for such a sweet offer. I don't know if I'll even be able to do fall plantings this year.
