My season is ending.. Here's the last of them. I'm looking for more late season bloomers. What are yours?

I'm still waiting for my First one! I'll have to add to this later when the season is winding down here. I ordered several late ones this year hoping to extend the season a bit.

Beautiful Irises and great pictures, Sherry. Can't answer your question, though -- my bloom season is messed up this year because of weather.

Oh -- typically, my last Iris to bloom is Morning Hymn -- that's true year-to year!

My camera doesn't shoot purples accurately (red deficient?). 'Paul Black', in reality is deeper and more purple... and stunning!

Go ahead and post pictures from last year, if you want.. I'm thinking of adding some more late bloomers to my orders (just a few...really). I'd be interested in knowing which ones have been favorites in the past.

Sherry - Hope you do not mind, but I requested putting up your picture for "Spooned Blaze" in the database as there were no pictures of it before! I think "Bruce" should be submitted as it only has one picture! _Greg

Sherry, if you go into the "iris" data base, and click on search by characteristics, you can click on TB or others as you are interested, and then click on late, very late, very very late etc. and it will bring up all of the irises that are in those catagories. It's really a handy way to search. You also can add what colors you are interested, and a lot of other things to sort by. Try it out. You'll like it.

Many of last year's late bloomers didn't bloom at all for me this year. Apollodorus and Gypsy Romance were late ones last year. Bumblebee Deelite always blooms late for me, though I believe it is suppose to be a Mid bloomer. My last to bloom this year will be Coal Seams that was a Schreiner's bonus. Interesting to have black irises at the end - kind of a mourning of the end of bloom season.

Uptown Lady is usually the last iris with flowers my garden. The light color helps the flowers hold up, too, since it's usually quite a bit hotter at the end of the season than the beginning.

Some others that are usually blooming at the end of the season (even if they start earlier).

Nice pictures Kent.. I've got 'Majestic Beauty'.. just don't have a good picture of it. It's got one more bud, so I've got another shot at it. 'Dawn to Dusk' is really nice.. That's one I would consider, and also 'Uptown Lady' to extend the blue season.

Leslie, I might have 'Gypsy Romance' on order... I don't have a lot of pinks, so 'Famous Last Words' might be good, Greg..

Tom, if I start searching around on the database, I might end up adding more than a *few* Hilarious! But then, I'll probably be ripping out lawn in the future.....

That's entirely the idea Sherry! Hilarious! Ring Around Rosie is always the last one to bloom here, and Material Girl is pretty late and a nice yellow.

Some other later ones I have are:
Stars and Strips Forever, Coastal Mist, Perpetual Joy, Silk Road, Whispering Spirit,Rainy River, Rim of Fire, Wired, King Tush, Queen In Calico and Don't Stop Believing.

Some late ones that I have ordered this year are:
Aristocracy, Midnight Rose, Iconic, Au Summet, and Grand Coquette.

Thanks for posting your late ones Tom.
I've got 'Aristocracy' on order.
'Stars and Stripes Forever', 'Whispering spirit', & 'Don't Stop Believing' are all ones I could see ordering.

Leslie, your picture of 'Gypsy Romance' is beautiful. I checked my list and *do* have it on order.. 'Ring Around the Rosie' looks like a winner..

I'm down to the last few buds in the garden. 'Conjuration' has been amazing for it's first year with just a bud or two left.. 'Rhinelander' is still going full guns. 'Edith Wolford' has a few blooms and buds left. 'Fall Fiesta' still has a little oomph left.. Got a couple buds on 'Spooned Blaze' and on one clump of 'Lacy Snowflake''.

Last year my latest bloomers were Child of Royalty and Cajun Rhythm:

Child of Royalty is a sibling of Ring around Rosie. I think there are at least a couple of other siblings that Ernst also introduced, and I think they're all late bloomers.

I also had a really early rebloomer last year: Glitter Repink. It bloomed again in July, which is just weird around here. Don't know if it was a fluke or will become a habit.

My guess about July Re-Bloom" is that it really is just an immature rhizome that did not bloom on time in the Spring rather than an increase pushed out by the mother that bloomed.
