Two years ago I got 17 cuttings of epis. I am hoping that I see a bud forming on my MIAMI RED, but could be wrong. (That would be me out in the sunroom inspecting my plants with a magnifying glass!) We are leaving at the end of the week and won't be back for a couple of weeks so perhaps I will have a surprise when we return. If my epi oxys perform like they did last year, we will be in for a few nights of blooms and that heavenly fragrance.

The amaryllis opened up to help us celebrate Easter.
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

Oh, Jean, I remember those oxys!! They were amazing. I do the same thing with imagining buds till they become reality.

Ahhh, so sad. I've got a bunch of those now. My son asked why bother if they only last a few days? I told him that they are soooo worth the wait.

The snails and slugs have decimated my Amaryllis this year! My neighbor has a whole row of them that are untouched, but my 36" pot is a mess.! Thumbs down

That is a great one. I am always attracted to AV but then I remember how many plants I am caring for and I just admire them.

I did a plant count, not counting seedlings for the garden, and I've got about 75 plants down here total but there is still quite a bit of room on the light stand and just made more room in the window, moved the cacti over to the sliding door since it gets stronger light.

Took a look at the Epi today from outside Sticking tongue out and it looks like its going to pop open any day now Thumbs up

My Epiphyllum phyllanthus var phyllanthus is budding and producing a bloom here and there in the evening. If I miss the blooms, I will see the developing seed pods, which are bright red and showy when ripe.

The Pachypodium baronii var windsorii is waking up! It is a small plant and a very slow grower.

Love them both!!!! Great color on the Pachypodium baronii var windsorii.

Two more flowers opened today on the red epi. And Samba slowly opens.

Thanks Kathy!
I am always partial to the reds. I would be happy to grow a whole gallery of Ackermannii!
I moved my Epis yesterday out of the garage, but not onto the deck yet. I see lots of buds, Smiling

Most of the hybrids do bloom better after some dormancy. Some people store them for a couple of months through the Winter in the cellar.

Should they be in dark? Mine are in northern light in winter and I rarely water.

Mine receive a little light through the small garage door windows. I don't think they need to be totally dark, just cool and so they need less water too.
