I have a few, but the one I wanted the most gives me the most trouble. Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mississippi Memories')
It keeps getting hung up for some reason. Has any one else had this problem? Can anything be done or will the flower out grow this problem.

When temperatures get a bit hotter and muggier, it probably will open OK.

I have not grown that one but like Debra said, usually with warmer temps they stop doing that. However, there are some that do this consistently because of the ruffling and will always do it.

That is what I was afraid of, Crying , I was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem, I will wait till it gets warmer before I decide what to do with it. LOL.

Oh yes. Not particularly on Stamile intros but IRON MAN is one that hangs all the time. It's a relatively late bloomer here so when the mornings cool off they look just like that.

Thanks! I will be patient, the temps have been warm but the ground is not real warm yet. Hopefully the plant will get happy soon.

It's the night temps that influence openings the most.

I don't know if this is 100% correct and if it holds true all the time.

It is said if the petals on the big ruffly ones have a notch on the tip them they won't hang. I tried to find some photos to show this but all the real ruffly ones have their petals recurved back where I can't see the tips in my photos.

I guess the best way to describe it is at the tip of the petal it is less ruffly or there seems to be a piece of ruffle missing.

Thanks Michele, that is very interesting. I will check on that tomorrow. Hopefully it will straighten out soon though.

They are still hanging up and I have seen others hanging up but only one flower. this is the most open I have seen any flower on Mississippi Memories and it looks like it is gagging on something. LOL.

Well, come to think of it there has not been much rain and I do not water as much as I should especially out at the corner garden. I did notice others were hanging up in this dry heat we were dealing with at the time. I finally saw two good flowers to open yesterday, after several rains and here is a picture of one of them.
