Opinion: A Few Good Trees

By Sharon
January 10, 2012

It's a good time to take a look at the bare bones of trees now that winter is upon most of us. That's about all we can see anyway since they aren't dressed in their leafy finery at the moment. Look out your window. How many trees can you see?

Dearest Sharon, in the UK trees are vital and indeed most highly treasured. We have the woodland trust https://www.woodlandtrust.org....
We also have conservation areas all over, and T.P.O.s on trees. A T.P.O. is a tree preservation order, and is issued by our councils. I am most sorry I do not know what they call municipal people or their buildings in the U.S.A.
If you cut down a tree in a conservation area or one with a T.P.O. the legal fine is huge. So people have learnt not to
The woodland trust are a charity and teach everyone from an early age; to plant saplings and sometimes bigger tress. Our councils plant street trees in our cities and parks.
London is one of the greenest metropolitan cities in the world. Surely we can educate the youngsters, that you need oxygen, not pollution, before it is too late.
No I m not a tree hugger, just a lover of things that supply us with what we need, air!
Even one of our toilet paper manufactures clearly state for every tree they cut down, they plant three more.
Wonderful and heartfelt Article, Sharon.
I wish people would listen, perhaps they don't know how.
Regards and hugs from across the Atlantic.
Neil.

Neil, so very nice to hear from you and to learn about the laws and legal issues pertaining to trees in your country. Excellent. It would be a wonderful world if people realized just how vital trees are to our every breath.

Thank you so much for you words, and for sharing the same thoughts about one of our most important gifts of nature.
