That's a great shot. I have Costus Pictus too, and it seems to pop out flowers when I least expect it. I also have a variegated form that hasn't bloomed since I planted it out in the ground, guess it's going to have to come back into a nice pot next fall . ..
So right, no fragrance except on the Hedychiums and I even have one Hedychium that is not fragrant. In fact that plant has been a total disappointment. It's Hedychium greenii, has nice dark leaves, red stems and supposed to have red flowers. Well, I got about 3 very small flowers last year, then it began making plantlets on the flower scapes. So . . . well, I have lots of new plants of it, but don't know what to do with them. I've been meaning to move the clump out to a location with more sun, just haven't gotten a round toit. One of those jobs that take the longest, right?
I have some Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata' that bloom faithfully each year but they're in such a shady hidden corner I hardly ever get to see them.
