Yikes, seems the whole east side is on fire. I hope they get some relief from the high winds and high temps soon so fires can be contained quickly.

She is fortunately on a road trip down the ORegon coast but I'm sure very worried. Near as I can tell her place may be on level 2 evacuation -- be ready to go. Scary, especially with all the road closures. Yikes.

Looks like Oregon has more fires than Washington, but ours are unfortunately centered nearer to populated areas. Be safe, everyone.

I'm in Chelan and the fire at Entiat burned down to the Columbia. Looks like it is out, have not gone up Brewster way but the Highway was open from the BeeBee bridge on Friday night. Clear and sunny here in Chelan, no smoke.

My sister got home and her house near Twisp is still standing, but she reports 'scorched earth' throughout the area. So devastating.

Our local mountains were obscured by smoke for the past three days, but the air is much clearer today, so things must be improving?

I find it difficult to get accurate real-time information on the fire. Last I heard it is still zero percent contained, and moving in a more or less southeastern direction. We have friends at Alta Lake who report the campground, golf course clubhouse, and all houses on the first nine holes are gone. Our friend's house was spared, but his neighbor across the street lost his house. My sister in Twisp is likewise so far OK and it appears the fire is moving away from her. Unless the wind shifts. On the plus side, Twisp was downgraded from Level 2 to Level 1 alert, which is promising. But, the fires still rage and are just moving where more fuel is.

I was really discouraged to learn that the Winthrop Blues Festival continues to claim their location (just outside Winthrop) is 'totally safe' (whatever that might mean in the midst of a fire storm) and encourages tourists to clog up the few roads still open to go drink beer and listen to music, while all the officials continue to ask people to NOT go to Okanogan County, period. And the Chelan sheriff is chasing after some fools who are lighting off fireworks. I just don't get it.

Woofie, I hope this thing wears itself out or is otherwise contained before it gets over to your neck of woods. And that everyone in Oregon and Idaho are safe from their fires as well.

Here's a link that shows the various fires, not sure how often it is updated.

Clear and sunny here in Chelan. My thoughts are with everyone in the path of the fires. So happy your sister is ok. I'm going over to the high school, know a shelter, with some goodies for the people there.

Yes, Lauri also reports it is raining in Twisp. Today is her husband's birthday and last evening I told her I would send a good old drenching PNW rainfall their way as his gift - straight down steady rain with no wind or lightening. Hopefully my karma worked!

Deb, you also brought me just a little sprinkle-mist in Everett/Lynnwood. So your rain-targeting mojo is well focused.

Good luck to everyone who is looking over their shoulder for smoke!

My only make-it-rain power seems to involve running my mini-irrigation sprayers. If I run them for 10-15 minutes, we usually get at least a little rain within a day or two. It's as if smelling my damp soil makes Someone wish for more of that smell.

I've considered trying to fake out whatever Powers are involved by just carrying an umbrella instead, but I don't own an umbrella.
