Dave has mentioned he's all for an open site as far as posting links or mentioning businesses.

Thank you, Evan, that is good to know. I wasn't sure so I thought I would be safe and send it via tree-mail but I will post direct in the future. Thumbs up

Many sites are restrictive about that sort of thing so it's totally understandable. Thumbs up Thumbs up

I have since ben schooled on what "Wally World" is referencing lol. I'd be surprised if they would carry such a niche species. Monrovia emailed me back & they no longer carry/grow that cultivar. The search goes on!

Now I understand why I keep finding old, obsolete pages where vendors carried it but, when I go to their current collection, there is no Alocasia infernalis 'kapit' to be found. You would think that someone has to be carrying it still.

I took a quick look at Brian's Botanicals and they're not carrying it, but if you go to their site, they might know how to get it.

I don't know anything about them but I see this place in Hawaii shows it on their site with a price of $14.99 but then it says you are bidding on a small plant: http://www.vendio.com/stores/p... There's a contact button at the top of the page so mybe you could contact them and ask about it.

If you're not afraid of eBay, I believe it's generally available there. I actually found one that I *think* might be 'Kapit' that I bought in the little tropical/house plant section at my local Lowe's (where they have the little Angels Exotics tropicals, bromeliads, and such). I'd never seen it there before and I've never seen it since and I bought the only pot they had. It was a single pot with 4 little plants in it, so I separated them, put 3 in the ground and potted the 4th. All of them promptly melted away, but all are veerrrryyyyy ssslllooowwwllllyyy trying to re-establish themselves. They're all tiny plants at this point - no more than a few inches tall, and seemingly very touchy. Very much the finicky temperament of the "jewel alocasias"!!

Now that you mention it Carter my Kapit was an Exotic Angel Plants as well. It did say Kapit somewhere on the tag as I recall.

Jay, these guys are really finicky, so I'm nor sure mine will even make it! Only one even has leaves & it's still pretty tiny.
