I planted morning glories this year and have been collecting the seed pods. They all looked to be ready, but when I open them up some seeds are black while others are light tan. I'm used to black seeds...so my question is...are the tan seeds viable?? or should I just toss them??

Depends on what kind they are as to the color. Blue silk for example has light tan seeds. If they aren't shriveled up then they are ok.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Thanks, Anne. What I planted was giant mixed colors...Ferry-Morse...that I got at Lowes. Don't remember any of the seeds being tan when I planted them. They look fine so nothing ventured, nothing gained They will make (hopefully) or not.

True....I'm collecting alot so what makes makes and what doesn't doesn't. Wish I could cover the dog run fence with them, but the hot wire doesn't like to play nice with vines....or me when I trim stuff around it and don't pay attention. I swear I've gotten zapped more often then the dogs

Ginger the small light blue one most likely produced the tan seeds. As long as they came from a fully ripe pod and are hard they will be good. I grew a light blue several times from tan seeds. Also a pure white one.
