For those of you who are not aware of this request from Dave, I am forwarding you the link to the thread. Someone from MD wanted to know which regional forum they should make home. That is what prompted him wondering if there was enough of us in the Mid Atlantic to make a new forum.

The thread "Which Regional Forum for MD?" in Site Talk forum

He is waiting to see if any of you in the NEG or other forums would be more at home with a Mid Atlantic Forum. I was not sure if you check out the Site Forum so I said I would pop in here with this note.

Many of us are at home here, but it is sometimes quicker to get answers if it is a question pertaining to a certain region. It is up to you all. Thanks.

@Onewish1 I think the state of NJ is considered MidAtlantic, not Northeast, but you are in North Jersey so I guess it is up to you. I personally think the entire state should be MidAtlantic as we are considered the Delaware Valley in weather forecasting, etc. at least that is what I am told. It is MD, DE, PA, NJ, in the Delaware Valley I think. NY is the line I believe for NE. What I do I know? Do what makes you happy.

It was definitely a hard winter! Several of my zone 7 plants didn't make it.

Climates vary & with luck to Dave, I would hate to see too many people abandon NE.

Having spent 20+ years living in New England, I know what a special and beautiful place the Northeast is, and how special the people are there. I still have fond memories of all the mountain laurel blooming on the side of the roads in Connecticut, and got my own mountain laurel 'Elf' in honor of that memory. And of course the fall foliage is to die for.

No one who has ever spent a significant amount of time in the Northeast can ever truly abandon it! Smiling

Here in Maryland, it is a different animal--the summers are hotter and more intense, the winters are shorter and generally milder. We get only hints of the beautiful fall colors you enjoy each year, but our springs are spectacular! Smiling

I know the deep bonds and friendships that regional forums can engender. We hope that the Midatlantic Gardening Forum can serve to expand those rather than take away from them, with increased opportunities for regional swaps and friendship-making.

I don't begrudge the MA their forum. Just that NE can be useful as well.
