I just realized I better get busy if I wanted pictures of the blooms in my Karol Emmerich bed. So out I went late forenoon today, thinking the pix colors probably wouldn't be too good if the light was too bright. Pleasant surprise... every picture turned out great, at least so far as the light affecting the quality. The plants are so thick I couldn't get close enough to take pictures of many of them. Next spring I am going to have to go out and drastically thin out the plants in this bed! Here are some of my results:

Your daylilies are beautiful and I especially like KWE and Via Dolorosa, which is harder to find than some of the others.

Linda, have you been out to carol's farm in Jordan? I have not but would live to go sometime when she has a tour.

Yes, I have. It is beyond description! She doesn't have "fields of day lilies; she has landscaped beds... large garden statues, retaining walls, etc. I haven't seen her beds in the gravel pit, though. And I have been to her "spring fling" which is a greenhouse event, and is both fun and educational!

I agree with Dormant. KWE and Via Dolorosa. But dormants, sigh. Do you collect Biblical named ones Linda?

I just love some of her creations. During my move, I lost the ones I had. Now I only have 'Woman At the Well' and 'Soul On Fire'. Neither have bloomed since they were just planted last fall. AlwaysbehindMN, your Emmerichs are gorgeous!

I think her Woman At the Well is such a unique flower. Anyone have some nice pics from this summer?

My intention originally was to collect all of Karol's, because she is a Minnesota hybridizer, and more importantly, because her hybrids are so beautiful. But now with about 70, I've run out of room, and really shouldn't make any more beds!!! Those I have been adding recently are for the flower not the name. Karol does choose the Biblical theme for most of her intros. 'Kingdom Without End' is probably my very favorite, along with 'Woman at the Well', the first one I purchased which I almost had to beg for (she was sold out, but did let me have one fan). The next year it had increased to 3 fans and I gave one to my sister in N.Dak. and kept 2 for myself. Her one fan thrived and turned into a beautiful clump; my 2 fans died. I just reacquired it from Karol but it has not bloomed yet this season.

A few more of the daylilies in my Karol Emmerich bed... I hope I'm not overdoing this display! There was one last flower on 'Shout from the Mountain Top' that I intended to take a picture of, but guess I forgot to do it. Now I have to wait til next year!

Be Fruitful and Multiple - Terrific choice of name for this daylily - probably my biggest clump, photo is just a small part of what's blooming... seems like it will never stop! Pretty flowers, although doesn't really compare to a stunner like 'Kingdom Without End'.

Defining Moment - I think this will be a special one, but is new in my garden and too soon to really evaluate.

Thumb of 2014-08-09/alwaysbehindMN/b6fc35
Rich in Mercy - I submitted a clump picture yesterday; this gives a better idea of the flower

Thumb of 2014-08-09/alwaysbehindMN/715a0a
Fear Not - My second favorite red, after 'Man of Sorrows' (not sure if 'Via Dolorosa' is a red or a cranberry?)
