Finally!

Most of the "Sold Out" signs are gone, and new roses have been added. I don't know whether all of the new ones have been added yet.

http://palatineroses.com/

They haven't brought back some of the ones I wanted as replacements for my own-root roses, but they do have Osiria, which is one of my favorite roses. I can't wait to grow a grafted one.

And then there's something really unexpected and really special: I'm absolutely over the moon at the thought of a grafted Julia's Rose. I never, never thought I'd see one. Palatine is full of surprises.

Palatine's also carrying Crescendo. That's a real surprise. It's a 2011 Zary rose that J&P carried for two seasons and then hid away. They might be carrying it again this year, but they didn't have it last year (and who wants J&P roses from J&P anyway). Hilarious!

And best news of all: Palatine has not jumped on the own-root bandwagon. Even the minis are still grafted onto Multiflora.

I'll probably add 10 more posts before anyone even sees this thread. This is the most exciting time of the year for me.

I just noticed that they have Flaming Beauty, to replace my sickly own-root Flaming Beauty. Hurray!

Zuzu, roughly, how much higher are they on shipping into the U.S.? I've wanted Black Forest for ages and they seem to be the only one to carry it for sale.

I love Palatine! I don't think I've ordered from any other nursery over the past few years. Of course, some of them no longer exist. Crying

Debra - ORDER FROM THEM. Seriously. You will be SHOCKED at what you get. Their shipping is the most reasonable in the business and their roses are the BEST. OMG I cannot give them high enough praise.

That said & done, I didn't find too many this year. :(

I like Kordes, too. Only I was chagrined to finally figure out that the beloved Gizmos I've been touting as Kordes are actually from Weeks. *Blush* Sticking tongue out Hilarious!

If I can manipulate the budget around to it, maybe this year. If not, I will put them at the top of the buy list for next year. I really do want that onnnnne rose. Big Grin

There's a 3-plant minimum for orders, Debra, so start looking for others you really, really want.

Shipping is a huge bargain. They'll ship as many as 19 roses to me for $29.75. Roses Unlimited would charge me $152.00 to ship 19 roses -- more than 5 times the amount charged by Palatine!

Yes, in Canada, which must be much farther from me than South Carolina. Palatine also doesn't have the $5 handling fee RU charges. Orders from Palatine represent the epitome of bargain shopping. Palatine prices are also comparatively low, even though the price has to include the nursery's expenses for phytosanitary certificates.

I'm already making a tentative list, of course, but I know I'll change it 10 times in the next week, especially when I start adding the new ones to our database and take a longer look at them.

Maid of Honor and Rose Gaujard are being offered this year, and I could replace my little own-root ones, but neither rose appeals to me enough to spend any more money on it, so I might get something new instead.

Florentina looks wonderful. I have four Blaze climbers in various parts of the garden. They're beautiful and they rebloom reliably, but they're all 30 years old and a couple of them are frankly looking played out. They aren't in gopher-proof cages, so they might be roses that are nibbled by gophers every year, just enough to make them less vigorous but not enough to kill them. I think I'll replace one of them with Florentina.

Dream Land is another new rose that appeals to me. It was hybridized by Palatine's owner and it's a pretty climber.

Sweet Jane is the new rose that appeals to me the most. It has won lots of awards. It's 15 years old, but it's still listed on HMF only under its registration name, so it must be something that hasn't been marketed aggressively until now.

I always wanted Crescendo and almost bought it from J&P, but now I'm glad I didn't. I'd much rather buy it from Palatine.

trying not to look but oh my http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
I tell myself, I already have so may roses in these colors. But, it's a Kordes, and oh my!

Off to go look at the rest, again, and Zuzu's list.

My tentative list, so far:

Red Riding Hood -- because I love Kordes Fairy Tale roses.
Julia's Rose
Osiria
Crescendo
Florentina
Pirouette (instead of Flaming Beauty)
Sweet Jane
Angel Veranda
Sherry Parks Sunrise (instead of Garden of Roses)

I want more Veranda roses. I have one of these, Pompon Veranda, and although it's an own-root rose from Northland Rosarium and is trapped in a large container, it's a veritable workhorse of a rose, pumping out blooms continuously.

I love my Pompon, but I still call it Pompon Flower Circus. I see on HMF that it also goes by Pashmina; that's kinda cool.

The blooms tend to stay deeply cupped; they never fully open like a traditional rose bloom does. Also, there are frequently unusual shades of green tinges along the petals. But because the buds stay tightly wrapped, they tend to brown on the edges a bit. Profuse bloomer, for sure!

Zuzu, I like Blush Flower Circus even more than PomPon Flower Circus, because the blooms open more fully, and have incredible staying power. They bloom all over the bush in dense clusters, but here are some photos of individual blooms.
