Welcome to blooms at the bottom of the world. As the warm seasons finish in the Northern Hemisphere, we of the Southern Hemisphere, now sun-blessed, carry the banner on.

My season begun today with a first bloom for my garden of the extra early bloomer, ASH ROSIE, by the Australian hybridisers Graham Nunan and Monica Mead 1997, out of Brisbane, Queensland.

You can find Season 2013-14 at The thread "Blooming in the Southern Hemisphere" in Daylilies forum

Wow, started already! Go Gleni!

Down here at the bottom of the bottom of the world, I have just discovered my first scape emerging!

Those are the first good pictures of Ash Rosie that I've seen. Much prettier than I thought. Smiling

Very pretty Glen. It has a warm look to it.

Glad to see a new thread for the new season. Strange to think that your season is beginning as ours is ending, but that is also the beauty of nature.

Looking forward to your blooms, Della. Hurray! Yes, my garden is off and running. It was the heavy rains two weeks ago. The daylilies always respond to a heavy down pour. Several others are also going to bloom this month. No signs of my lilies yet - I fear standing on the last ones last year might have done them in. *Blush*

I just noticed this bloom as it began to pour.

Extra early bloomer DALRIADA by the Australian hybridiser Graham Nunan 1998.

HEMEROCALLIS LITHIOASPHODELUS. It was described by Baron Carl Von Linné aka Linnaeus in 1753. It is apparently found in the wild from Southeast Europe to China. Flowering today.

The other yellow blooms are Australian Buttercups Ranunculus lappaceus. They self seed. It is always a pain doing the mulching and ensuring they come up each year.

Ann, it is Sedum acre. They are getting ready to flower. I have always meant to write up how I did it as a groundcover. Slacko.
