I see green Praying Mantis every so often, but never a grayish large insect like that.
I thought it was really gorgeous!

Wonderful pictures!

I just learned today that they do change color, so if your mantis got next to some bright green, bet he/she'd change right fast.

I found one on the back porch just today that was dark gray and a sort of pewter color -- I had never seen that before, so I googled it. And, yup, they do that. Green Grin!

Lovely captures of a beautiful lady Ursula! Some insects change colour to overwinter, Green Lacewings go from green to a pale brown colour.

I would say it's Stagmomantis carolina ...

The particular mantids, carolina mantis, each time a nymph sheds it's skin it can alter its body color to best match its surroundings, but it stays that color until next shed. Adults stay the same color though. That's why this species is highly variable, but usually green, brown, or gray. I've seen them in pink, yellow, and blue but it's very rare.
