We would love to see what everyone has - please post your pictures and tell us a bit about your pond....

DH and I have been ponding for 11 years. This is our 3rd pond. We started out with a small 90 gallon Walmart pond, then graduated to an 1100 gallon pond with a small stream and a gristmill. We now have a pond that is just under 5000 gallons. We put in our third and final pond about 6-7 years ago. Our pond is 13 1/2 feet wide by 27 ft - this includes our bogs. Our deep end is 4 ft deep with the shallower end at 3 1/2 feet deep and the pond holds 4850 gallons.

Carolyn,
Nice that we have a Pond Forum here!

We currently have 4 small ponds. Well actually one 13' x 6' x 4' deep Pond and three water feature type ponds.
Plus about 40 water container gardens.

I'll have to get some shots together.

Here's one 'clump' of the WCG's. It's 6 SS Iced Tea Dispensers filled w/ Colocasia 'Big Dipper'.

Your photos and your water gardens are gorgeous. I just love them. I really like It's 6 SS Iced Tea Dispensers filled w/ Colocasia 'Big Dipper'. - that is such a neat idea. I have to try something like that......

Lovely,
Will have to get pictures after I get my new camera
I have 2 plastic ponds set up and a third that we need to
set up

I have "Feeder" goldfish in the 2ponds, the three older ones in the big pond have grown into beauties. 2 are gold but one is a bronze, at first I thought this was a mistake as he is hard to see in the black pond but he has developed copper markings and he is gorgeous, just wish I had a set up to show their form and color better.

Light colored River Stones or white Sand/Gravel Sandy.

We have one 'Stacked Pond' w/ just Black Comets in a black pond..... so the gravel makes them really pop.

LOL! BEEN THERE!
Keep stirring the sand the dirt will filter out eventually.
We put 1" pebbles about 2" deep on all our submerged pots.
Seems to have stopped the dirt.

The egrets and heron fly up from the river, and if they spot water they come down for a closer look. Hilighting the fish is like inviting them over for a snack.

We live between 2 rivers and the herons fly overhead going from one river to the other. We had one incident where the heron ate baby koi and there have been a couple of times when they have tried to land by our pond and we were out there. We did buy one of the sensor sprayers, which is worth it's weight in gold.

I have a feeling a spray sensor will be in my future the next time they trash one of my ponds. Any recommendations on one?

Do not have electric outlet so no filter yet, looking into how to hook up a solar powered pump and a filter system
I do have a slow exchange of water, have a faucet that can not be turned all the way off, so hooked up a drip hose, mounted it up on a tray a couple feet above the largest pool, the water sprays into that one, falls into a second one, drips from there into a large potted plant and then into the pool. The water from this one goes through a tube into the second and from there into a third. Lots of plants take care of the rest

apparently is is Havahart - DH has it mounted on the cross peice of the privacy fence. http://www.fosterandsmithaquat...

Often times, I will forget it is on and when I am crossing the opposite end of the pond to get to the backyard, it sprays me.

Sandy - I would love to see your set up.
