I wanted to ask when is the best time of year to start the seeds? I think they are so beautiful. I finally have a large property to plant on and work with. Thanks.

My husband was the seed person and he always started in late March and April.

Hello, fellow coleus lovers. I wanted to share my new coleus babies that just came up!


they are a rainbow mix, so it will be fun to see what i get. I've been trying to start them outside in the shady part of my garden for 2 years, with no luck. Also, thought it wasnt going to work inside, either, until i remembered to put the tray cover on. That was 3 days ago. Oops!

I thought "rainbow mix" would have lots of colors. Mine is somewhat disappointing.



I have 3 flats of these. All the same.

We've grown that mix before. Give it more growing time and they may color up a bit more.

We ended up liking the Carefree mix (sold by Park's and maybe they still offer it) better but at least the solid green goes with everything.

Some were close in color at the very start but they didn't end up with typical Kong colors.

They need to grow more before you can tell the real colours.
Here are mine that were started late in a south window and then moved to lights.

Those are the separate varieties.
Two rows are Versa Burgundy to Green
Next are Dark chocolate.
Rows 5 and 6 are Black Wizard.

The rest are mixes
Giant mix, Ordinary mix and McKenzie mix.
