Superstition will be announcing their 2015 introductions one-a-day starting January 1st through the 7th on their facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/super...

All of their names were approved. They have two TBs, 2 SDBs (one of which is a re-bloomer), 1 AB, & 2 Aril/Median (does that mean these two are "Species X" types?

I am familiar with the Arils and the AB, 'aril bred' which is a cross but not Aril/Median unless that is what they are using to describe the AB.

Ok. Ask and you shall receive. I just got a note from Superstition about our (Bonnie and myself) confusion with the crossing of Aril and median irises. Here is the note:

"Seems there is confusion on what an aril-median is: it is when an arilbred is crossed with a median (like an SDB, IB, BB, etc)

The result is usually a shorter arilbred or an aril-median that still carries some of the arilbred traits, but can usually be grown better by people in areas where arilbreds themselves can be tougher to grow."

Awesome! Smiling

That is awesome, Greg. I grow AB's but not enough of them to know if they pout when grown in this climate. It will just be great when all of us can grow all of them.

You can't wait the 14 to 21 days for them to reveal their introductions? Oh, it is a sad day then.

Just go through your pictures post that wonderment that you do and in no time the truth will be revealed Smiling

I agree , there are lots of iris that have been shown on these "Hybridizer threads" that are REALLY nice....but I just CAN"T add very many to my list ! I really don't want to make anymore beds, or extend any beds, any further than I already have......I'll admit, I DO have the room, but it's the ENERGY (as well as the time!) needed to take care of any more, that's the " limiting factor" Sticking tongue out ! Over the last 4-5 years, I have dealt with, and bought from, some of the nicest vendors out there , and received some great "product' from them ( as well as all those nice folks, on this forum, as well as the HIPS board, and Cubits, who have "shared' or "traded" with me !!! Thumbs up ), and I really HATE the thought of NOT ordering from (in the quantity) them ,this next year. Sad ....I have always said "It's foolish to just order ONE iris, might as well get 2, or three, as considering shipping costs, the 'extras" are VERY economical ", but I see lots of "one rhizome' orders" in my future !

We all have to know our limits...or at least it's better if we do! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! You did some heavy-duty ordering last year. I can't imagine anyone could keep that pace! Besides, I'm sure you will still be recieving lots of surprises along the way, so you won't be without a few new flowers to enjoy! Big Grin Group hug

Orders here were cut way back. I only had about 6 SDBs on the list. My notebook kept asking where the rest of them were.

Ouch! Sad I'm sure more than your notebook were feeling the impact of cutting back. Sighing! I don't know that there is anything we can do to help...except keep posting beautiful pictures so you can enjoy them vicariously? Group hug

I do order from Superstion--they had a species cross listed to try. Also I added 2 of the same TB (by Duane Meek) with an interesting color pattern to bring down to median size.
