Goodness Linda. We haven't had any snow yet, just a little bit in November but it melted quickly. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be bad. Both days we are expecting a rain/snow mix.

Welcome to the new year everyone!

50 degrees, heavily overcast & light rain falling here. Supposed to be overcast all day. It's damp feeling. Uh, that might be because it's 90% humidity. Sticking tongue out

Thanks for the new thread Sharon.

The snow is melting in town, here. The mountains are covered. We ended up with a total of .70 of rain. Fantastic way to end the year. December was a very moist month for Tucson. Thumbs up

Right around 32 and raining this morning. Icy to the west where it is colder, but we are lucky so far. Supposed to rain through tomorrow and maybe into Saturday morning, but still calling for it to be above freezing. I'll take it. Big Grin

Happy New Year to all of our friends here.

@Sharon, love the picture of your cardinal. Wish I could trade him for the one that has been attacking his reflection in our windows since March! Anyone know how to keep him from doing this?

It's 35* this morning, a heat wave compared to yesterday's 22*. The older I get the colder I am when winter approaches, so even in the 30s, it's a shivery day.

@DavidofDeLand , If I paint that picture, David, with a daylily in his beak, I'd have to call it 'Oxymoron', now wouldn't I? Smiling

@rocklady , Jean, once I had a blue jay and again an insane wren, both determined to peck their way through a window. I had a small mirror that was framed and in both instances I placed that mirror close to the spots they attacked. Every day or two I moved that little mirror a little farther away and they moved with it. The mirror ended up hanging from a tree limb and the birds moved away too. I've used up a lot of little mirrors but they seem to work. I say 'little' but they were probably about 5"x7" with the frames. Crazy old lady with mirrors in her trees, but whatever works is fine with me. Big Grin

Nasty weather Natty! Thumbs down Thumbs down Group hug Group hug

Sharon, what a brilliant solution to the obsessed birds problem. I will have to remember that one.
I think they do that thinking they are warning off a competitor. They have no idea it's their own reflection. We have different birds that keep attacking the rear view mirrors on the sides of the van. They only do it spring through summer when they are mating or the chicks have not left the nest yet. We watched a silly male bluebird last year who was bound & determined to kill that bird in the mirror! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Sometimes they even do it to the windows or windshields on the car because of the tinting which makes a reflective effect.
