Well here we are starting a new year. So much to learn, new sedum to try, and new ways to use the much loved sedum.
I also want to show a new sedum x orostachys that will be on the market for the first time this year. For me it is a must have.


I never thought about using sedum in food preparation, here is a link to the Food Network show called Chopped. In the second round (entree round) one of the ingredients is Sedum 'Pink Pearl'. To me it looks similar to Tri-Color sedum. Can anyone find this sedum?

Thanks Lynn!!! So have to have that one! I'm thinking I will not be eating my sedum.

Some of them grow so well that we could have our sedum and eat them too.

Sure hope I'm able to find 'Blue Elf' around here this year as I "need" it too!

I'm not sure, but I think Cynda (Perennial Obsessions) will have them sometime this spring.
I want to see a bloom up very close, to see which parent it looks the most like.

I'll keep an eye on their website then. Around this area its difficult to find the newest introductions of anything.

I will let you know when I hear back from Cynda.

Done, in the data base. I sit inside thinking no color out in the yard. Then do a walk around and a spot this. Better than any bloom.

I noticed that most of my deciduous sedum have new growth poking through the soil.

Yes, they do. Love that stage. I tried to pull a few weeds while out looking over the yard but the ground is still frozen. First day of spring is March 20th!!!!!!! Be here before you know it!!!

It has warmed up here and the ground it thawed out. Think I might be able to work out in the beds as long as I don't disturb the plants. There are a few winter weeds coming up. I might have to wait until tomorrow, as it is suppose to rain all day today.

We're having a beautiful snowstorm today, but the temps will be dropping to below zero for most of the week. Hot chocolate weather!

Bet it's beautiful. Talked to my son in Lake Bluff last night, he said they were getting rain and ice and snow by today. I'm never visiting in winter. Raining and 41 here,

While searching for Pink Pearl sedum, I found these two sites, I am finding a lot of interesting reading there.

www.chefs-garden.com list Pink Pearl as edibles for sale. Hummm wonder if I order Pink Pearl I could root it? Will check it out later.
