Anyone got suggestions on what to do to keep my plant healthy & encourage it to grow larger & more robust? It has just finished with it's flush of blooms that I bought it with this past summer, the last one finally completely faded & the red bloom dropped off leaving the yellow stemey part. What can I do also to encourage it to rebloom after it rests?

What conditions are you growing it in?

Right now it is inside in low light just waiting for spring. It was very happy last summer on my covered patio. It seemed to really like it there.

They enjoy high humidity, not something a lot of us find easy to provide with central heating.

You could put a plastic bag around the plant and mist inside of it. get a really really large sandwhich bag that should do the trick or buy a mini greenhouse

Sorry, I meant to respond sooner. You could try placing it on a tray of pebbles and fill the tray with water (a humidity tray). Just don't allow the pot to touch the water, you don't want the roots sitting in water or the potting mix sucking it up and rotting your plant. I have a couple ferns on humidity trays and I place my plants ontop of the plastic lid to make sure they're not touching the water. Some say humidity trays don't work, some say they do. I haven't noticed any ill effects from using them, so maybe they do work. It's worth a shot though!

I heard of a guy on you tube/saw his video that actually got his coffee tree to bear flowers and yes roasted beans from scratch, the secret/ wrapping the plant in giant plastic bags. coffee rarely flowers or fruits indoors.

that's where the plastic idea came from i guess. yeah either get a humidity tray or humidifier then
