I have started sowing wildflower seeds along this area between the trees and highway.
There is a huge ditch there and always ugly weed.

Sowing
1/4 pound butterfly garden mix
1/2 Pound of Perennial/ Annual Wildflower mix
mixed daylily seeds

Here in Texas we owe a lot to Lady Bird Johnson for starting the highway beautification program.

Sowing wildflowers is very important for the pollinator population in any area.
And a wildflower planting keeps on reseeding so the effect continues through the years.

Is it safe from the mowers there? I hate the highway mowers! The guy helping me get rid of things lately while I'm cleaning up around here wanted to weed-whack a limited area. I let him...it's January and there's nothing but some mostly dormant grasses there. I told him...not anywhere else! And he said "Yes, ma'am! I remember when you yelled at my brother one time about your native plants!" Guess they know me by now!

yes very safe they only go so far,we have to mow down the area I have been sowing seeds in.

I've been collecting seeds from some of the plants along a dirt road where I take pics of wild flowers, waiting for it to be mowed. When I saw that it had been mowed, I took the seeds on my next trip and scattered them back (except a few I hope will grow wild Ipomoea vines over top of our doghouse.) Hopefully the show will be even better this year and next! It only gets mowed every 2-3 yrs, that I've seen.
