Member @bamira, who recently has been posting hundreds of rose photos, sent me this interesting link to a rose garden commemorating Holocaust victims in Lidice, a village near Prague in the Czech Republic.

Lots of good information on this site. Here's a link to the rose photo gallery:

Currently contains a rose garden, a total of 213 varieties of roses in the number of more than 24 thousand bushes,
and they'll bloom, so the pictures do for you.
People from all over the world can plant a rose, or submitted by plants of the rose.
More and better to learn on the website, my English is bad.
Do you know of other places where planted in memory of the flowers or trees?

Have you been there, Stefan? Have you taken photos there? Do the roses planted there conform to the memorial theme in their names or in other characteriistics? I think I recognized Peace as one of the roses in the garden. That would be the first rose I would plant in a garden commemorating victims of war. It would be interesting to hear your impressions of the garden if you have visited it.

We have a couple of Memorial Rose gardens here in the Denver metro. I haven't been to either one yet.. probably will go this summer when I have time. Both are at least an hour away from me.

Are the donation figures current? Does the donation of one rose bush really cost only 100 Czech crowns? That's currently equivalent to only $4.07.

Toni, beautiful garden. I lived in Littleton from about 1959 to 1966. Reading about the evolution of the War Memorial Garden made me curious and I looked up the street where we used to live--wow, TREES! Was nothing but bare field when our house was built. And there was nothing behind us after the house was built, just more field. Sure isn't that way, now. Hilarious! Hilarious!
