I'm so interested in the Pocket Melon! I had my mom grow them last year but they never got any melons because of insects. They seem like a neat curiosity.

I grew them last year and only had male vines .. it was very frustrating. so I've planted 9 this year .. hopefully I'll get a male and female plant.

The Dudaim Melon started coming up 24 hours after planting and have 100%! The Geranium Pinto Salmon Splash started coming up 4 days after planting! The Abutilon Tennant's White which was in the first wave is starting to produce true leaves so I'll probably pot it up tomorrow and move it out to the greenhouse.

Exciting! Definitely having zone envy right now.

I suppose I could start my geraniums - they will happily grow inside, its a little early for most everything else here.

I have zone envy when it comes to Cypripedium, Lady Slippers. I'd love to be able to grow those.

Hollyhock from the first wave germinated!

Today I did a second sowing of a few things also sown in January: kale, fritillaria meleagris, cleome, Kenilworth ivy, calendula, and anise hyssop.

The only baby pix I have at this point are for Thyme, Feverfew, and Anise Hyssop, all taken through the top hole of the jugs.

Thumb of 2015-02-11/kylaluaz/e20ac4 Thyme

Thumb of 2015-02-11/kylaluaz/fc539f Feverfew -- if you look close you can see true leaves.

Scary weather coming up. Forecast is for lows of minus one on this coming Thursday night. We're predicted to have snow tomorrow, enough itmight stay and insulate that deep freeze, but Dayum! I sure hope my seedlings make it through. It's been a rocky up and down time. (I'm pretty sure they'll be fine, just, minus one!)

Not going to be much fun here either. We might be hosting and ice storm tomorrow night.

Well, second wave come and gone, third and fourth wave all done, many many sproutlings, temps forecast to get to 80 today, and then! Then, another winter blast with nighttime freezes through the weekend.

Most of what I got I don't worry about but some things, bush beans just emerging frex, I dunno. I don't think I've ever wintersown with this much yanking around in temps.

Likely I will just cover and hover and worry a bit. Moving them into the house for that many days isn't possible. Sad

Yeah, I may throw a blanket over the bunch of them at night, for that stretch of days. Daytime temps will be okay.
