About 24F and looks the same as your photo. It's entirely made of sleet, no snow. Ugh.

No snow or sleet, yet, but cold drizzle and wind: pretty gross!

24F here. It's supposed to leave the 20s behind and be above freezing by noon, but the temp isn't moving up much yet. I'm ready for the layer of sleet to melt and disappear. Breaking ice for the cattle is an unpleasant and very temporary in these temps.

Your roads stayed clear? I'd have thought you were a mess. Everything is still shut down this morning. No school, no rural mail yesterday. If it doesn't start to heat up faster than it is now, it may be tomorrow before things are moving. I wouldn't like it this cold without a layer of sleet on everything.

Only the bridges in central and north-central Mississippi are freezing up. Many hundreds of accidents over the last couple of days. More rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow is predicted for tomorrow, so our problems start all over again. We are still below freezing here. It got down to the mid-20's last night with some wind. We are supposed to get down to the teens again Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I am sick and tired of winter. Come on Mother Nature, give us a break! Sighing!

The climate "experts" had to change their moniker from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change". It is as if the world has never before experienced climate change. Whistling

Cold and misty. Yesterday we had some road closures in Austin - including part of the toll roads in Round Rock and Cedar Park -- due to ice.

Pretty cold today.

I doubt you would find many Floridians not in your category.

You are not alone, TK. It didn't thaw today like it was supposed to, so everything is still covered in ice. One of my cows decided to have her baby yesterday. I spent a good part of the day trying to locate them. It's fine, no ears frozen off and a complete tail. I bet it wishes it could change its mind. It appears comfortable, but it's damp and I wonder when it will get the chance to dry off. I hate this weather.

Not really. They probably wouldn't choose to use a built shelter unless they were forced. It's amazing how adept they are at finding the best place naturally to avoid the worst of the weather. The new calf was a perfect case in point. I'm not sure it was born in the spot I found it, but that is where it got stowed. In a gully with a gravel bed which had absorbed the snow and ice but didn't leave sticky mud. The wall of the gully was curved where the water cuts and had a slight slant. The slant isn't enough that there is danger of it sloughing off, but gave a bit of overhead protection. The gully side faced west and south, so it gives protection from the north wind and the maximum amount of sun for extra warmth. I tried to think of another place on the property that would give all the same shelter properties. I couldn't, but I'd guess if there is one the cattle would know where it is located.
