Has anyone else seen Adelman's (www.peonyparadise.com) 2015 fall catalog? They have Singing in the Rain for $40 and P. Tenuifolia Rosea (single PINK species fernleaf) for $30. Haven't seen either of them offered from any of the big growers for anywhere NEAR that low. Anyone interested in unusual species, not hybrid, fernleaf varieties might want to grab one while they're available!

THanks to your post. I snatched up the rosea p.tenufolia, la perle, rozella, and white frost. If I did not already have Singin in the Rain, I would have gotten that one as well. Great offering this year from Adelman's peonies.

Thanks for the alert. I just ordered the pink fern leaf and am glad to find it. They are supposed to be really scarce. It gives me a pink, single red, double red, and lithophile, all the species type. I enjoy my fernies.

I went, looked, drooled, craved ---- but resisted. I simply have no more room. And I shot my budget on dahlias. Not as good an investment but I do love them. Peonies are so hardy here and require no maintenance. Dahlias work you to death.

Glad you guys grabbed that fernleaf, it took me several minutes to believe the price on that one. Did a quick search on the name and the next closest price was from a Canadian grower for $90. Here's hoping we all have good luck with it!

I didn't even notice they had White Frost, Karen! That's one I've been looking for, can't believe I missed it. Might have to see if I can add it to my order...

I can't believe the price either. I just hope that the peony is true to name as the pic shown on the Carsten database. I have been wanting the other 3 for awhile so the rosea p.tenufolia just makes it the right time to order them. Hilarious!

I'd worry about getting it from some places but Adelmans has always been very reputable. I'll be the first to yell if it's not what they advertised!

Adelman's always has some amazing prices compared to other vendors; have any of you noticed they have Etched Salmon for $32, compared to Klehm's $75.

OH my. You guys are driving me nuts. I love Etched Salmon. I had Coral Sunset and thought I had lost it but a year after the top part rotted I found it growing from deep roots among the rhubarb. I had thoroughly tilled the soil and was sure there was nothing there. I got two roots in pots and they have pips. Etched Salmon is very similar Just lovely.

Did you see their price for Mackinac Grand? $28! Sorry Mary Stella! That's the only other one I noticed that had a really, REALLY good price! I got Etched Salmon 2 falls ago, think from Hollingsworth but I don't remember for sure. It had 2 blooms on it last spring and I couldn't force myself to cut them off as buds. The plant was really small but even those first blooms were beautiful.

Oh yeah, I snatched up The Mackinac Grand from them last year! Klehm's has it priced $135!

I purchased 'the mackinaw grand' last year from Brooks for $35.

Since i am from Michigan, i had to do it:)

we have had a cold winter in Michigan (still), but but we did have snow cover.

i planted many new peonies last fall.

it will be interesting to see how they do.

Mackinac Grand:

Adelman $28

Hollingsworth $60

Klehm $135

I can't understand how one would pay $60 let alone $135 for a common peony. It can't be that scarce since it is available from at least 3 major vendors. Some of the yellows maybe but not a red.

Frank, I'm looking forward to your Peony show! You'll have lots to compare from different growers, it will be very interesting seeing how they perform.

Old Faithful is one that is expensive wherever I see it offered. Its a 1964 hybrid, which makes me wonder if it is slow to increase. Klehm's has it for $75, and Adelman's for $50.

Frank, visited Mackinac Island a few years ago while on vacation in MI. Saw tons of peony plants but we were there too late to see them bloom...beautiful island, though!

Speaking of expensive peonies, Adelman has 'Pastelegance' for $250 and Solaris Farms has the same for $300. Away out of my price range.

I learned my lesson with MacKinac Grand and Lemon Chiffon. Even the Itoh's I have paid $99 for can be gotten for $40 or so some places. Prices always drop and so will Pastelegance.

I bought my first Itoh peony in 2005 for $100 from Adelmans. It seems to be selling for $80 now.

Subsequent Itoh purchases have all been in the $40 range.

I am with Mary, prices always drop.
