How do you tag a multi-plant photo? I do not see anyplace to do that.

Jane, When you go to the Multi-Plant area there will be a place that says, add a multi -plant image.

After you down load a picture there will be a place that asks you something like, are you happy with this picture. If you click to go on, then at the top of the page it will tell you how to draw a box around it and will ask you to identify it. It is always helpful to have a second window open so that you can go to the data base and get the number for the plants that you are identifying.

You can write either the plant number( which when people click on that it will take them to that plant in the data base), or the name of the plant in the box that will show up at the top of the page. It sounds complicated but it's really easy once you down load your photo because there are really good instructions there. There is also a place to delete it if you are not happy with what you've got.

Hope this is a help and not to confusing. Smiling

In addition, the Multi-plant area is found under the "Goodies" tab on the left-hand side at the top of your page. Here's the direct link to that page, so you can check it out. Smiling http://garden.org/apps/

It's better not to type the name. Open a second tab, go to the entry, and either copy the plant ID number in the space for identifying the plant or copy and paste the URL address of the entry in that space. Many plants never show up in the proper entries because the name was misspelled or because there's more than one plant in the database with that name and the system doesn't know which one you mean. There are five roses with Queen Elizabeth in their names in our database, for instance, so typing Rosa 'Queen Elizabeth' will not help the system identify the plant.

Sometimes typing the name in works, sometimes not. Use the botanical name, not a common name. You can do a 'first draft' of typing them and see which ones connect to the database, then edit those that don't. After adding names, any that don't show up above the pic as a link are those that have not connected to the database, and won't show up on the entry for that plant. Those are the ones you would have to look up and paste.

If they don't connect, I tag them by using 2 windows, looking up each plant in 1 window, tagging the pic in the other window. If all of the plants are on your list here, and especially if they have hybrid/cultivar names, finding them that way might be slightly quicker.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.
