Not too long ago there was a discussion about being able to choose which DB photo to show on our plant list -- was this option actually added (and if so, where do I find it?) ?

I'm not sure where to find that post, Sandy, but I think it was decided that it would be left the way it was. However, I think it was also stated that you can put your favorite picture in your list's comments area by using its DB tag. The one that looks like this ATP BB Code: [ db_photo]278150 [/db_photo] (but without the spaces).

Yep, tried it, and it definitely works -- takes up a lot of room, though... I still would prefer to be able to pick the photo I want to show on the left, but not really a big deal for me. Shrug!

I tried it too, just to see how it looked, and it took up too much room for me as well. It's still a neat option though.

Putting the photos in the "Notes" area does take up a lot of space so I never print out my plant list. But I do enjoy having photos of my own plants and for me it is worth the space. Hope to have a lot more new blooms to photograph this year, so I'll be using up a lot of space! Rolling my eyes.

I have plans to revamp the plant lists feature this spring and letting people choose their own image is a functionality I definitely want to add.

I like the occasionally rotating popular photo. Sometimes it changes with the season. I am also pleasantly surprised if the popular photo is mine. I do use the option to add my personal photo in the comment section mainly so I can see exactly what my own plant looks like (sometimes differnet from the featured photo). I have not yet ever printed out my list so taking up space is not an issue.

Revisiting this as I update My List at end-of-season. For me, it would be nice to have the option to set the My List thumbnail as either (1) the most popular photo, (2) my most popular photo, or (3) allow the user to choose the thumbnail. I assume this would be some sort of user preference in the My List area. Of course, I have no idea if this is possible or how problematic it might be. I recognize that lots of folks want their own photo to appear as the thumbnail in their list, which makes sense. I don't much care about that as I pull my own photo into the comment section, which shows up larger and hence more detail. I often don't post a pretty bloom photo if the database already has 20-30 similar photos, but will post a photo of emerging growth, leaf or stem, season-end, etc. - not really what I'd like as my thumbnail, but hopefully useful for the database. As noted already, I rather enjoyed having My List thumbnails change out as folks add photos. Just my thoughts, and of no particular urgency or importance.
