This year the Philly show displayed a few of the winners...a couple were amazing the others seemed a bit bland...this was a favorite..set up musically in a garden..made inside a guitar

I noticed the guitar picture is quite cropped in it's display...if you click to expand the image it fills out the frame

So the next one is a favorite...

The next one seems to be missing any props to bring it to life..but if you look closely in the front is a coiled rattle snake

Ok...these are minis of small gardens...so they are a foot or two in size... These next few are from a vendor ...he hopes to sell miniature water gardens..his are complete landscapes with streams and waterfalls... Maybe 4-5 ft long and a foot or so deep... Hhis rocks are a mix or real stones and carved and painted foam .. He pictures them as accent pieces in lobby's and restaurants..as well as inside homes..complete with lighting in large enclosures

Gordon - Thank you for sharing those photos! I love what people come up with. Those waterfalls are gorgeous! Wow! I want a miniature garden like that one with the rocks, stream, and waterfall! Beautiful!

I am going to be putting a pond in one of my miniature gardens (complete with real waterlilies). No waterfall though. I may have to figure out a way to rig up a waterfall in a larger miniature garden container. Oh! How I love a challenge!

Thanks for inspiring me and getting my imagination going on overdrive! Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

These minis are awesome! TY for sharing these pics!

Becky, I toyed with the idea of a water feature also, but ended up deciding it would be too complicated for me, and above the level of my meager plant budget. You might find some of the info in this discussion helpful for consideration:

Becky, I love the idea of water lilies in a mini scene. Where you the one that posted about having lilies in coffee mugs? I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere and also being able to dwarf smaller sized lilies in small containers. I just got in through the mail a tropical one called Evelyn Randig. I have it in a large glass mug right now and it is already broken dormancy and sending up tiny little leaves. It has scented flowers and I think would be a very cool way to use it if I could.

Tiffany - This is what I want!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

And here are some instructions on how to make a pond with waterfall.

http://miniatures.about.com/od...

Definitely do-able!

Audrey - Yes, I am the one that stunted my regular sized waterlilies to be very miniature by growing them in coffee mugs. They don't bloom though. But I am ok with that. The species is Mexicana:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N...

It took quite some time to get them that small by growing seedlings in the cups. The Mexicana produced seedlings one year, so I immediately planted them in the cups. I don't even know why I did that. I think I was just looking for places to put them so they wouldn't dry out and die. But they soon started producing miniature waterlily pads and I just adored them! So I have some left. Which would fill in a miniature pond very nicely. Probably too nicely! LOL!

Becky, thankyou for the info. I might not do this to my new one but will be hunting around for some cheap seeds to maybe try this with. Thumbs up
